The world’s biggest and most-awaited poker festival, the World Series of Poker (WSOP), will be completing its 50th annual outing this year and the brand has decided to make it a series to remember!

The WSOP yesterday unveiled details of a total of 73 events as part of the series, in addition to the previous announcements that the global poker brand had made.

7 Marquee Events Announced in December 2018

Last December, WSOP had revealed the dates for it’s 50th Annual Series announcing that a total of 78 bracelet events will be held from May 29 to July 17 at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. The mega festival will be aired exclusively on PokerGO and ESPN, from July 3-16. In fact, details regarding seven marquee tournaments were also revealed.

Details of 13 More Events Released in January 2019

Earlier this year, WSOP named 13 more events of the series and also disclosed that the one of the signature events at the WSOP, The Colossus will undergo a revamp making it a two-flight event starting on June 26. The second flight will kick off the following day.

Moreover, $1,000 buy-in Mini Main Event was also added to the WSOP calendar. Scheduled to be held two days before the start of the $10,000 buy-in actual Main Event, the Mini Main Event takes place on Monday, July 1 and Tuesday, July 2. Akin to its namesake, the Mini Main Event will see players start with 60,000 in tournament chips and features the same blind structure but with 30-min levels instead of 120-minute levels in the Main Event.

Furthermore, two Super Turbo Bounty events were also confirmed on the schedule with both events featuring a single-day structure. The $1,000 buy-in version will offer a $300 bounty for each elimination, while in the $1,500 version each elimination will be worth $500.

73 Events & Many More Updates Unveiled

Apart from announcing the 73 events of the 2019 WSOP schedule, WSOP also revealed more changes that the brand will be incorporating at the upcoming series.

In a press release dated January 23, WSOP announced several changes that it will be incorporating at the upcoming poker festival.

According to the press release, the starting chip stacks will see an increase, “At the 50th Annual WSOP, players in the majority of events will see significant increases to their starting chip stack from 2018 and prior. Where a $1,500 buy-in No-Limit Hold’em event last year started with 7,500 in chips, this year that event will start with 25,000 in chips.”

Additionally, many events will be re-structured to accommodate the Big Blind Ante format which means that all No-Limit Hold’em events at the 2019 WSOP, including gold bracelet events, Daily Deepstacks and Mega Satellites, will adopt the Big Blind Ante format.

WSOP Vice President Jack Effel stated, “It is important the modern-day World Series of Poker continues to evolve. People certainly like bigger starting stacks, and we’re happy to oblige while simultaneously adding more value.”

Following is a chart representing the changes in chip stacks from 2018 to 2019.

While no $600 or $800 events have been announced by the WSOP yet, looking at the above-mentioned chart, it seems there is a possibility that more events may be added to the schedule later.

Lastly, in order to make the 50th anniversary celebration of the WSOP extra special, WSOP has announced a special event open only to previous bracelet winners. Any player who has won a WSOP gold bracelet is eligible to participate in the $1,500 Bracelet Winners Only No-Limit Hold’em which will take place on July 10. The 1,078 players who have won bracelets in the past, plus the 2019 bracelet winners will be able to compete in the event, which features a starting stack of 50,000.
