Adda52, India’s largest online poker site has just signed a multi-year brand licensing agreement with international poker-tournament giant World Poker Tour (WPT). Even as the news broke, speculation in the Indian poker industry was strong that after the exit of the IPC Team from the Deltin Royale poker room in Goa, Adda52.com was one of the front runners to take over the management of the room. According to some sources, an announcement to the effect is expected shortly.
As per the new tie-up, Gaussian Networks Pvt. Ltd., Adda52’s parent company will have the rights to create exclusive WPT products for the Indian market, to distribute select seasons of WPT televised events and to enhance the brand with strategic local sponsorships. Additionally, Adda52 will be the Indian qualifying partner for WPT global events.
Speaking about the alliance, Anuj Gupta, Founder & CEO of Adda52.com remarked that the association had come at a crucial time in India. He stated, “There is a poker boom and the Indian poker community is looking for a better tournament experience. With this tie-up, we want the poker community to be exposed to international standards of poker with better structures, well-defined tournaments, and the knowledge the WPT brings to the table.”

Angelica Hael, VP of Global Tour Management for the WPT went on to state that the company was looking at similar partnerships in several other regions in order to expand the WPT footprint worldwide.
WPT had been acquired by Ourgame International Holdings Pvt. Ltd., a Hong Kong based gaming company in June 2015. Ourgame has more than 500 million users globally across different platforms. The deal had opened up the road for expansion, especially into the Asian continent, which is believed to be the next lucrative frontier for poker.
