Describing itself as the ‘fastest growing online poker site in India,’ UMA Poker was founded by Prashray Rai and Mrinal Dev Bajaj in February 2018. In just a year, the company has really grown to build a place for itself within the domestic online poker circuit.

The Beginning – How UMA Poker Came to be

27-year old poker enthusiast, Prashray Rai, is a Delhi-lad who moved to the U.S. in 2013 to pursue B.Tech in Industrial Engineering and graduated from Purdue University Indiana. After working at a Los Angeles-based consultancy firm for two years, Rai moved on to become the Chief Operating Officer (COO) at a start-up called DYL in 2016. It was in this role as a COO that he learned the art of building an organization, marketing, sales, legal matters, and compliance. After that, he decided to return to the motherland and partner with his childhood friend and fellow poker lover Mrinal Dev Bajaj, leading to the birth of UMA Poker.

Before his involvement with UMA Poker, Bajaj was a Delhi-based lawyer by qualification but he deterred from the more conventional path, choosing instead to build a future around his first passion – poker.

UMA Poker – A Perfect Platform For Newcomers

Founded in 2018, UMA Poker has grown by leaps and bounds over the last year. Accessible on Android, iOS, Windows and Instant Play, it is the ideal platform for newcomers and beginners as it offers KYC bonus, daily free-roll tournaments, and newbie tables for those who are still learning the tricks of the trade.

There are ring games starting from as low as ₹2/₹4 to as high as ₹200/₹400 for players to choose from, based on their budget.

The site also implements a neural network designed by the smartest minds in data security to systematically eradicate collusion, chip dumping, and card trackers. The player interface is also intuitive – benefitting both beginners and established pros and offers glitch-free play.

The company also guarantees that cash-outs are processed within 24 hours, and is tax compliant. Additionally, it is one of the very few sites that permit players to player transfers (currently on Windows App only). Any registered player can send money to another player for no surcharge.

Perhaps, the best feature of them all is that UMA Poker charges game varying rake which means the higher the stakes a player plays, the lesser they pay, with the rake structure starting as low as 3%.

Past Series Hosted on the Site & Future Plans

Intending to provide exceptional user experience by continually working on technology upgrades and providing a user-friendly and secure portal for poker enthusiasts, UMA Poker has created a sizeable and loyal user base.

Since launch, UMA Poker has hosted several high value tournament series. While Prime Time Series ₹1 Crores GTD was the first coming from the site’s bandwagon, other flagship tournament series hosted by the site include the Freedom Series ₹1.5 Crores GTD and the latest offering that played out in April – Redemption Series ₹2 Crores GTD.

UMA Poker was also amongst the first domestic poker platforms to offer free travel packages to Las Vegas for the 50th World Series of Poker (WSOP). The tournament ‘Lucky Hearts Vegas’ allowed players to enter for as low as ₹11 and the top 10 finishers of the tournament won a free package to Vegas.

Beyond the regular offerings, the site also creates learning blogs and videos to help players learn and grow. The company’s vision for the future is to not only build a stronger foundation in the rapidly growing poker market in India, but also to ensure big wins and recognition for its players.
