Two events were running at the Triton Super High Roller Series London on Monday. The featured tournament of the day was the £100,000 Main Event that had 59 runners from a starting field of 122 entries coming back to play Day 2. Running alongside the Main Event was the £25,000 Short Deck Ante-Only.

The £100,000 Main Event logged in 122 entries on its opening day with late registrations open till the end of the first level on Day 2. Eight entries were registered on Day 2 that made for a 130-strong field, generating a generous £12,200,000 (~₹104 Crores) prize pool. While the original plan was for the Main Event to play down to a champion on Monday, the tournament was paused once the final table was reached. Bagging the most massive stack heading into an unscheduled Day 3 was none other than Triton co-founder Paul Phua (cover image) himself. Phua was, without doubt, the most prominent force on the felts on Day 2 and will enter the final table holding the largest stack of 5,875,000 (37 BB’s).

Close behind Phua is Benjamin Heath (5,810,000 – 36 BBs). Incidentally, another Triton co-founder Richard Yong was also in the field. Though Yong fell out empty-handed, his son Wai King Yong (5,030,000 – 31 BBs) managed to make it to the final table and is placed third in chips heading into the final day.

Other notables still in contention include Michael Soyza (3,870,000 – 24 BB’s), Stephen Chidwick (2,955,000 – 18 BB’s), and Sam Greenwood (2,385,000 – 15 BB’s).

The penultimate event on the Triton London schedule, the £25,000 Short Deck Ante-Only drew 106 entries on its opening day. The field was whittled down to 10 players on Day 1 with Chin Wei Lim bagging the overnight chip lead with his stack of 6,455,000. Day 2 begins at 1 PM (local time) today followed by the £100,000 Short Deck Main Event that kicks off at 5 PM. The series-ending £50,000 Short Deck Ante-Only is slated to kick off at 5 PM on August 7.

£100,000 Main Event – Day 2

Paul Phua Leads the Final 9 Players

A total of 59 survivors returned on Day 2 with China’s Tan Xuan holding the start-of-day chip lead. Despite his chip advantage, Xuan losing a few pots to come tumbling down the ranks while Triton co-founder Paul Phua who had started Day 2 with 263,000 took over as the chip leader relatively early on in the day.

Phua went on a blistering run, scoring several double-ups from the likes of Wei Leong Chan, Ben Heath, and Daniel Cates to take on the chip lead. It was, however, not all smooth-sailing for Phua who suffered his share of setbacks most notably in the last level of the night. But Phua was able to reclaim the lead. In the penultimate hand of the night, Phua scooped a monster pot. With pocket treys in his hand, Phua moved all-in on the river after flopping a full house. Daniel Cates folded, and Phua bagged 5,875,000 (37 BBs) for the final table.

The money bubble was breached in Level 19, and it was Choon Tong Siow who was the last player to fall out empty-handed. Siow was eliminated in 18th place by Michael Soyza.

Soon after Siow`s elimination, Wiktor Malinowski (17th for £192,000) went out as the first in-the-money elimination. The start-of-day chip leader Tan Xuan (13th for £220,000) went out on the classic kings vs. aces cooler with Stephen Chidwick’s flopped set of aces booting him out.

Isaac Haxton (12th for £220,000), Justin Bonomo (15th for £201,600) and Timothy Adams (16th for £192,000) were among the other notable ITM finishers, the latter two players were both eliminated by Daniel Cates in a single hand.

Matthias Eibinger (10th for £250,400) bubbled the final table with his pair of fives losing out to Wai Leong Chan’s two pair.

After Phua who leads the final table, the next big stacks in the field are Benjamin Heath (5,810,000 – 36 BBs) and Wai King Yong(5,030,000).

Michael Soyza (3,870,000 – 24 BBs), Stephen Chidwick (2,955,000 – 18 BBs) and Sam Greenwood (2,385,000 – 15 BBs) are the other superstars in contention.

Day 3 resumes at 5 PM (local time) with the blinds starting at 80,000/160,000.
