Event #7: HK$200K Short Deck NLHE Ante Only Turbo of the Triton Poker High Roller Series Montenegro, hosted at the Maestral Resort & Casino drew in 64 entries which included 28 re-entries generating a prize pool of HK$12.03 Million. The fast-paced event crowned a champion in Singapore’s Quek Sechariah Sheng (cover image) who claimed his first-ever live title along with a career-best score of HK$3.70 Million at the event!

Participating in his first event at the series, the 28-year-old bested the likes of Kenneth Kee and Paul Phua, to reach heads-up play against Peter Jetten. It was perhaps the quickest final showdown in the history of the series as it lasted just one hand, at the end of which Sheng emerged as the victor. Incidentally, this was Sheng’s second live cash, taking his total tournament winnings to $490,844.

Speaking to the tournament officials after winning the event, Sheng said, “I’m still a little bit shaky. That’s why this game [Short Deck variant] is so good for beginners. Everybody has a chance.”

Out of the 64 entries that registered for the event, only the top eight were assured payouts. Following Short Deck Main Event winner Rui Cao‘s elimination in eighth place for HK$480,000, the seven-handed final table was convened.

Phua’s was bested by Sheng’s , ending his run in third place.

Phua’s dismissal left only Quek Sechariah Sheng and Peter Jetten in contention. Consisting of only one hand, it was possibly the shortest heads-up confrontation in the history of the series.
