The fast-paced Event #9: HK$500K Short Deck NLHE Ante Only at the Triton Poker High Roller Series Montenegro was one of the final events of the series. Hosted at the Maestral Resort & Casino, the event pulled in a total of 42 entries, including 13 re-entries, resulting in a prize pool kitty worth HK$20.08 Million. Outlasting the field to claim his first-ever Triton title was USA’s Ben Lamb (cover image), who also banked a colossal payday of HK$7.65 Million.

Ranked ‘numero uno’ on Oklahoma’s All-Time Money List, Lamb is best known for making the final table of the World Series of Poker Main Event twice within six years. The 34-year-old has also become a prominent face in the Asian circuit in recent times. He finished runner-up in Event #8: HK$200K PLO against Malaysia’s Hing Yaung Chow on May 14.

This time around, Lamb made sure to maintain his composure throughout the event, and after eliminating Timofey Kuznetsov and eventual runner-up Romain Arnaud, he finally got his hands on his very-first Triton title!

“It feels good,” Lamb said in the post-event interview. He also disclosed his upcoming plans, saying that he will be heading back to Las Vegas tomorrow for a golf trip, before preparing again for the WSOP.

American pro – Isaac Haxton had already picked up three scores at the series in Event #1: NLHE Turbo, Event #3: HK$ 100K Short Deck NLHE Ante Only and Event #11: HK$1M Triton Montenegro Short Deck Main Event respectively. Eyeing a fourth score, Haxton narrowly missed the mark here with a seventh-place finish when his were bested by Ivan Leow’s .

With the money bubble looming overhead, it was Robert Flink who had to bear the tag of the tournament bubble in sixth place when his were cracked by Romain Arnaud’s which bettered to a pair of kings on the flop.

The remaining five finalists were all in the money and before long, partypoker Team pro Timofey Kuznetsov was eliminated in fifth place. In a classic cooler, Kuznetsov’s were no match for Ben Lamb’s , resulting in the former`s fifth place exit.

China’s Xuan Tan was featuring in back-to-back final tables. After finishing sixth in Event #10: HK$750K Short Deck NLHE Ante Only, he was making another deep run here. His title hopes, however, were once again dashed when, as the previous event, he was yet again involved in a three-way pot this time with Leow and Arnaud.

The board ran , and Leow found a double up, while Tan was eliminated in fourth place.

Three-handed play continued for an hour before Ivan Leow busted out in third place. He pitted his against Arnaud’s . The runout brought Arnaud a king-high straight, sending Leow to the rail.

Romain Arnaud had a lead of 98 antes against Ban Lamb’s 60 as the start of the heads-up match; however, the latter steadily chipped his way to the top, eventually enjoying a 2:1 chip lead. While the chip lead changed hands a few times, in the end, Lamb successfully bagged his career-first Triton title.

The final showdown ended with both players moving all-in preflop. Lamb tabled and Arnaud turned over . The community and missed both players and Lamb’s king-jack kicker won him the pot and the trophy, along with HK$7,650,000 in first-place prize money.
