In the PokerGuru feature ‘This Week in Poker’ we bring to you the weekly roundup of the biggest online scores by Indian MTT players along with the top stories from both the live and online poker circuit.

Here are this week`s top stories

It was an action-packed week with PokerStars dominating the news both live and online. Tournaments kept the pace up with SCOOP, PokerStars Championships Monte Carlo and the MonteDam Swing events all currently underway!

Moving to the east we have the ongoing APT Philippines 2017 series that saw a record-breaking field of 442 runners in the Main Event. Team India made its presence felt with Imran Khan and Avinit Bagri cashing in the Main Event. Ankush Aryan cashed in the No Limit Hold’em 1 event with Aditya Sushant and Imran Khan making it to Day 2 in the High Roller event!

Several regulars were busy notching up scores online too, and topping the charts is none other than Team PokerStars Pro Aditya ‘Adi Agarwal’ Agarwal who once again takes our “PokerGuru Star of the Week” title.

Domestically, this week saw one of the largest deals in Indian gaming history with Canada’s Clairvest Group acquiring a majority stake in online rummy gaming company Ace2Three for $73.7 million (₹474 crore). Online poker enthusiasts are in for a treat as PokerBaazi recently announced the next edition of PokerBaazi Premier League with a massive ₹1.5 crores in guaranteed prize money.

In international news, PokerStars Festival announced three new stops at France, Romania and Ireland. The online giant has also announced an extra week of its SCOOP series, which has 57 events in its schedule guaranteeing a massive $55 Million in prizes!

In other news, Hetal Desai and Jaydeep Dawer were arrested for running poker game in Surat and King’s Casino has partnered with Indian poker site Poker High to host a satellite for partypoker Festival Main Event, €1 million guaranteed. The ACOP Platinum Series is also currently underway at PokerStars Live Macau.

Online Railbird Report

Last year ‘Adi Agarwal’ as his moniker goes online, made it to the top and took the “PokerGuru Star of the Week” title eight times. He definitely seems to be in a mood to break that record this year! This past week, Aditya cashed twice starting with claiming the top finish in the PokerStars ‘Hot $162, $25K GTD’ for $6,130.76 and then made $2,255.24 for 2nd place in the PokerStars ‘Hot $109, $10K GTD’. Agarwal made the highest amount of $8,386 this past week and claims our “PokerGuru Star of the Week” title.

Other notable finishes include –

Adi’s close friend and namesake Aditya ‘bitti132’ Agarwal was also seen in action on the virtual felts after a long break. He made a strong comeback on the virtual felts banking $5,683.83 for 3rd place in the PokerStars ‘Hot $22, $65K GTD’

Sahil ‘$lim$hady19’ Chutani won $5,274.77 for 2nd place in the PokerStars ‘Big $55, $50K GTD’

Piyush ‘Piyush16’ Gupta won $1,875.00 for 1st place in the Party Poker ‘Heavyweight: Kangaroo – $5K GTD’

‘poker4rush’ won $1,758.26 for 1st place in the PokerStars ‘$27 NLHE [Deep Stacks], $8K GTD’

‘Gr33nApples’ won $1,647.00 for 4th place in the 888 Poker ‘The $12,000 Crocodile’

Arsh ‘BigggTymeR’ Grover won $1,542.28 for 3rd place in the PokerStars ‘Bounty Builder $82, $20K GTD’

‘kungfopanda7’ won $1,642.00 for 2nd place in the PokerStars ‘$82 NLHE [6-Max, Hyper-Turbo], $8K GTD’

Sanat ‘sanatkaikini’ Kaikini won $1,179.10 for 2nd place in the PokerStars ‘Big $11, $8K GTD’

 

PokerStars SCOOP 2017 Schedule Released With an Extra Week of Schedule and $55 Million Guaranteed

PokerStars announced the schedule of its annual festival – Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) with an extra week of tournament action. Slated to run between April 30 and May 23, the schedule consists of 57 events guaranteeing a massive $55 Million in prize-pool.

 

PokerBaazi Announces the Next PPL Edition With 1.5 Crores Guaranteed

PokerBaazi is back with its flagship tournament series – PokerBaazi Premier League (PPL) Season VI. The series is slated to run between May 10 to 14 and has a guaranteed prizepool of ₹1.5 crore making it the biggest ever online poker series in India.

The ongoing APT Championships Philippines 2017 began on April 26 Resorts World Manila and is set to conclude on May 6. The series have been a massive success with record-breaking numbers in most of the events.

Vietnam’s Huu Dung Nguyen took down the RWM Opening Event for $19,050.

The Ante Up for charity event was won by Korea’s Lim Yohwan who pocketed $2,050 and the second trophy of the festival.

Singapore based Dhanesh Chainani defeated Sam Razavi in the Champions Cup, which was named after the pro himself for $7,570.

Japan’s Mio Nagasaka outlasted the 21-player field in the Ladies of Poker event for $1,750.

Kim Gab Yong won the Head Hunter event after topping a field of 189 players for $13,620.

Filipino player Janno Riga took down the Japan Corp 8-Max event to claim $5,200 in prize money.

The Main Event attracted a record-breaking turnout with a total of 442 entries from two starting flights. A strong Indian contingent was present at the series with Aditya Sushant entering the first entry flight of the Main Event. Sushant bagged the third largest stack though he could not make a deep run in the event. After Day 2 of play, three Indians were still in contention – Imran Khan, Avinit Bagri and Rohit Begwani with the former two players cashing in the event.

2017 PokerStars Championship Monte Carlo

Alongside APT, the French Riviera was also set ablaze with pros at the 2017 PokerStars Championship presented by Monte Carlo Casino kicking off this past week and is set to conclude its Main Event soon. Ole Schemion took down the €10K Opening Event For €274,750
