2018 was one of the most remarkable years for Indian poker, with big developments in the gaming sector and online poker. The New Year seems to have kicked off on the same note with another action-packed Sunday!
Topping the winner’s list of the first Sunday of 2019 was Sriharsha ‘G.O.A.T’ Doddapaneni, who topped the Sunday SLAM ₹30 Lakhs GTD on 9stacks. The featured tournament of the new ‘HNY2019’ series rewarded Doddapaneni with ₹7.80 Lakhs.
Doddapaneni had company in the winner’s circle in Laksh ‘boomtlt123’ Pal Singh, who was another standout performer last Sunday for taking down the Baazi SuperStack (BSS) ₹25 Lakhs GTD on PokerBaazi for ₹5.09 Lakhs.
Among the other winners of PokerBaazi’ Sunday tournaments were ‘somzprash’ (BSS PLO ₹5 Lakhs GTD -₹1.45 Lakhs), ‘Chennaino1’ (BSS MegaStack ₹5 Lakhs GTD – ₹1.40 Lakhs), and ‘1999chirag’ (Sunday ₹1 Lakh GTD -₹17,850).
The PokerStars Players No-Limit Hold’em Championship (PSPC) may have taken the entire poker world by storm but there was still a lot on offer for domestic players on PokerStars India! Headlining the list of winners on PokerStars India was Sajjan ‘Sajjan007’ Barnwal who juggernauted to the top of the Sunday Special ₹15 Lakhs GTD to win ₹3.50 Lakhs in first-place prize money. Meanwhile, ‘bhasm@sur1’ shipped the Sunday Stars ₹2 Lakhs GTD and pocketed ₹48,682 for his victory.
The other PokerStars events crowned winners in ‘IamUltron’ (Sunday Storm ₹2 Lakhs GTD -₹39,272), ‘SpidermanIndia’ (The Classic ₹1.5 Lakhs GTD -₹35,132), ‘22AD83’ (Sunday Warm-up ₹1.5 Lakhs GTD – ₹31,249), and ‘ThatsItAllin’ (The Sunday Supersonic ₹1 Lakh GTD – ₹18,048).
Fast growing online poker site MadOverPoker continued its weekend round of events. The Sunday Super Grind series on MadOverPoker crowned winners in ‘shipit2daddy01’ (Dynamite for ₹26,842), Ashutost ‘TykerDurden’ Balodhi (Grenade for ₹27,438) and Sunil ‘bababk’ Arora (Night Crawler for ₹15,843).

The Sunday SLAM ₹30 Lakhs GTD was the headline event of the new HNY2019 series launched by 9stacks and also happened to be the biggest Sunday tournament on the site. Featuring a ₹1,100 buy-in, the event kicked off at 8 pm on January 6clocking in a total of 118 entries. Topping them all was Sriharsha ‘G.O.A.T’ Doddapaneni who defeated Anik Kamal ‘Incognito_Nit’ Ajmera heads-up to win the event for ₹7.80 Lakhs. Meanwhile, Ajmera banked ₹5.40 Lakhs for his runner-up finish.
