In an unprecedented move, the Indian poker community banded together to boycott the Sunday majors on Adda52 on August 11, in protest against the site’s outdated TDS policy. However, where Adda52 lost out, other operators, such as PokerStars India, PokerBaazi and others, benefitted.

PokerStars India’s signature Sunday tournament, the Sunday Special Progressive KO, saw its guarantee being smashed for the first time since the event’s guarantee was reduced from ₹20 Lakhs to ₹15 Lakhs. Last Sunday, the tournament pulled in 301 entries (167 unique and 134 re-entries), overshooting its guarantee to reach a prize pool of ₹15.05 Lakhs. Tournament regular Pranay’ aankhdikhatahai’ Chawla, who had previously won the event in February this year for ₹3.29 Lakhs and final tabled the event twice last year – in August (3rd for ₹1.53 Lakhs) and September (4th for ₹1.12 Lakhs), came out on top yet again banking ₹3.57 Lakhs. The site’s two Team Pros Muskan Sethi (21st for ₹15,711) and Aditya Agarwal (43rd for ₹10,306), both ran deep in the event.

PokerBaazi’s mainstay Sunday tournament, the Baazi Super Sunday (BSS) SuperStack ₹25 Lakhs GTD has always managed to pull in the crowds, and last Sunday was no different. The event witnessed a nearly 10% spike in attendance with 547 entries (322 unique and 225 re-entries) as compared to the previous week’s 500 entries (315 unique and 185 re-entries). Model-turned-poker player Shravan’ FishStars’ Chhabria took down the event after besting Praveen’ praveenchandcr7’ Chand heads-up. Chhabria netted ₹5.21 Lakhs for his win, while Chand collected ₹3.72 Lakhs.

Beside the BSS SuperStack, the Grinders #33 Main Event ₹5 Lakhs GTD was another featured event taking place on PokerBaazi last Sunday and logged in 545 entries (366 unique and 179 re-entries). ‘Incognito’ juggernaut his way to the top of the leaderboard and claimed ₹1.05 Lakhs in prize money. The BSS PLO ₹2 Lakhs GTD crowned a champion in well-known pro Mayank’ alwaystiltAA’ Jaggi, who trounced a 155-strong entry field to collect a ₹55,362 winner’s payday. ‘nixxyralte’ rounded out the list of winners on PokerBaazi by taking down the Sunday ₹1 Lakh GTD for ₹18,100.

The other winners on PokerStars India’s Sunday were Shagun’ Sogani22’ Jain (Sunday Stars ₹2 Lakhs GTD for ₹46,228), Akash’ fisheater0510’ Gupta (Bigstack Turbo ₹1.5 Lakhs GTD for ₹37,735), Jaydeep’ Armageddon444’ Dawer (Sunday Supersonic ₹1 Lakh GTD for ₹22,391) and ‘HonkaTonk8’ (Sunday Storm ₹1 Lakh GTD for ₹16,049).

PokerGuru Ambassador Ashish Munot has been in cracking form of late. After a blistering run in the APT Vietnam Championships Event (6th for ₹9.48 Lakhs), he was back in action on the virtual felts where he final tabled two of the most significant online events on August 11. He missed the BSS SuperStack title by a whisker, finishing third for ₹2.39 Lakhs and placed seventh in the Sunday Special for ₹32,970.

Faiz Alam and Devrat Arya were the other two PokerGuru Ambassadors who picked up multiple scores last Sunday. Alam made deep runs in the BSS SuperStack (10th for ₹39,110) and BSS PLO (7th for ₹9,202), while Arya scored in the Sunday Special (33rd for ₹6,077) and Sunday Stars (15th for ₹3,889). Vivek’ Nutpeddling729’ Singh (4th for ₹1.77 Lakhs) and Gokul’ Nygma’ Raj (18th for ₹27,350) also cashed the BSS SuperStack.

Laksh Pal’ B00MTilt23’ Singh (8th for ₹28,608), Rony’ GoGetters1’ Chowdhury (10th for ₹21,944), Parikshit’ Zapdos123’ Dhall (18th for ₹24,148), Ashutosh’ Msnugget’ Balodhi (29th for ₹12,952) and Ashish’ Spewushhhiiiii’ Ahuja (46th for ₹8,431) finished ITM in the Sunday Special, while Vishal’ Vishalb22’ Bajaj (8th for ₹5,625) final tabled the Sunday Stars.

Up-and-coming online poker site Khelo365 hosted two high-value tournaments last Sunday which were won by ‘Scorpion14’ (Big Bang ₹1 Lakh GTD for ₹43,000), and the ever-consistent ‘Rughani’ (Deep Stack ₹40K GTD for ₹17,280). ‘Rughani’ has been one of the most consistent performers on the fast-growing poker portal and has a long trail of cashes on the site. He last won the Big Bang ₹1 Lakh GTD NLHE on July 28 for ₹40,800 and the Deep Stack ₹40K GTD NLHE on July 21 for ₹17,200.

Two PokerGuru Ambassadors, namely, Ashish’ OMG_spew’ Munot (3rd for ₹2.39 Lakhs) and Vivek’ Nutpeddling729’ Singh (4th for ₹1.77 Lakhs) final-tabled the event while two others, Faiz’ AilaGaya’ Alam (10th for ₹39,110) and Gokul ‘Nygma’ Raj (18th for ₹27,350) made a deep run.

Attracting 301 entries (167 unique and 134 re-entries), the popular Sunday tournament smashed its guarantee, collecting ₹15.05 Lakhs in the prize pool, which can be attributed to the boycott of Adda52’s Sunday majors.

Pranay’ aankhdikhatahai’ Chawla decimated the field, clinching the title for an impressive ₹3.57 Lakhs payday. Chawla is a tournament regular who has an enviable track record in the Sunday Special. He had shipped the event in February, this year, for ₹3.29 Lakhs, while also placing fourth for ₹1.12 Lakhs in September and third for ₹1.53 Lakhs in August last year.
