February 24 was a historic day for Indian poker as the biggest-ever tournament in the country, The Game Changer ₹2 Crores GTD crowned its inaugural champion. When it was first announced, the tournament`s ₹2 Crores GTD with a ₹11,000 buy-in looked like a tall task to meet. The PokerBaazi team, however, left no stone unturned to market this unique event and the team`s marketing efforts certainly paid off, with the Game Changer delivering on all counts. Surpassing all expectations the marquee event crushed its ₹2 Crores prize pool guarantee on the second starting flight alone. An unprecedented 3,777 strong entry-field from three starting flights saw the total prize pool reach a staggering ₹3.7 Crores. The finale was equally nerve-wracking. Topping the vast competition to become PokerBaazi’s first Game Changer champion was a known name, Prashanth ‘Iveyleague’ Sekar. Sekar snagged the title and ₹33 Lakhs in prize money following a four-way ICM deal with Sikander ‘advanced_basic’ Rajwade (2nd for ₹39 Lakhs), ‘brointer’ (3rd for ₹33 Lakhs) and Pranay ‘setmeup’ Chawla (4th for ₹33 Lakhs).

A total of 378 spots were assured payouts, and Team PokerGuru ambassadors came out with flying colors as Ashish ‘OMG_spew’ Munot (6th for ₹8.30 Lakhs), Laksh ‘boomtlt23′ Pal Singh (20th for ₹1,43,526), Nadeem ‘SpadeHunter’ Basha (40th for ₹94,425), Gokul ‘Nygma’ Raj (133rd for ₹56,655), PokerGuru Staking’s Kartik ‘TheInternetKid’ Ved (146th for ₹56,655) and Jayjit ‘england’ Ray (250th for ₹41,547), all added to their scorecards.

In the shadows of the Game Changer were the other high-value Sunday tournaments that kept the virtual felts occupied yesterday. PokerBaazi, benefitting from the increased traffic on the site due to The Game Changer, saw a spillover of entries in other events as well. The site`s Sunday mainstay, the BSS SuperStack ₹25 Lakhs GTD (RE) registered a usually high 715 entries (includes 299 re-entries) obliterating the ₹25 Lakhs prize pool guarantee with the final tally touching ₹35.75 Lakhs. Besting the field was Rahul ‘YOUAGAIN’ Pruthi, who banked ₹6.14 Lakhs in prize money.

Feeling the increasing pressure of competition, PokerStars India too upped the ante by increasing the prize pool guarantee of it`s biggest weekly tournament, i.e., Sunday Special Progressive KO, ₹5,000 NLHE that came back this Sunday with a ₹5 Lakhs increase in its guarantee. The event attracted 319 entries and saw Amar ‘AceConsultant’ Mehta square off against Rubin ‘kornkid’ Labroo in the heads-up confrontation. Mehta eventually prevailed taking home a well-deserved payday of ₹3.76 Lakhs.

The other Sunday tournaments on PokerBaazi crowned winners in ‘Piko1432′ (BSS MegaStack ₹5 Lakhs GTD (RE) for ₹1.17 Lakhs), Matt ‘matpoker’ Matt (BSS PLO ₹5 Lakhs GTD (RE) for ₹1.17 Lakhs), ‘riteshcbec’ (The Monster 6-Max ₹5 Lakhs GTD (RE) for ₹1.13 Lakhs) and ‘Sunjam’ (Sunday ₹1 Lakhs GTD (RE) for ₹19,847).

Right after his deep run in The Game Changer, Team PokerGuru Ambassador Laksh ‘boomtlt23′ Pal Singh was seen picking up a score in the BSS MegaStack ₹5 Lakhs GTD (RE) (6th for ₹21,533). Another Team Ambassador from PokerGuru, Rony ‘bisadip176′ Chowdhury posted scores in PokerBaazi’s The Monster 6-Max ₹5 Lakhs GTD (RE) (5thfor ₹29,205) and BSS PLO ₹5 Lakhs GTD (RE) (3rd for ₹61,713).
