PokerStars India’s revitalized and re-energized marketing strategies has worked wonders and its effects are evidently visible with the increase in the numbers of the brand’s most popular Sunday extravaganza, the Sunday Special Progressive KO ₹25 Lakhs GTD! On March 3, the high-value tournament crossed the 400-entry mark for the first and followed it up with an even higher attendance of 430 entries (252 unique and 178 re-entries) on March 10. This week the event recorded an all-time high of 479 entries (281 unique and 198 re-entries) proving that the global brand is slowly and steadily closing the gap between its competitors. PokerBaazi’s Baazi Super Sunday (BSS) SuperStack ₹25 Lakhs attracted 648 entries (383 unique and 265 re-entries).
‘MarwadiPro’, who had previously won the Sunday Special on December 31, 2018, repeated the feat yesterday to take home a whopping ₹4.57 Lakhs in prize money. Other notables who featured on the final table were Shashank ‘Goldfish097’ Shekhar (4th for ₹1.02 Lakhs), Vishal ‘mdigurgaon’ Tulsyan (5th for ₹1.21 Lakhs) and Jai ‘inisme’ Saha (7th for ₹80,879).
PokerBaazi’s headline Sunday tournament, i.e., BSS SuperStack ₹25 Lakhs GTD, yet again attracted a massive field of 648 entries, collecting ₹32.40 Lakhs in the prize pool. In the action-packed tournament that culminated in the early hours of Monday, it was Zarvan ‘MomSaid5Bet’ Tumboli who defeated ‘brointer’ heads-up to claim the top honors along with a payout of ₹5.60 Lakhs, while ‘brointer’ banked ₹3.09 Lakhs for his runner-up finish.
Other PokerBaazi tournaments crowned winners in Vishal ‘Bhai9’ Marwaha (The Monster ₹5 Lakhs GTD for ₹1.03 Lakhs), Vinay ‘Lovecee’ Choudhry (BSS PLO ₹5 Lakh GTD (RE) for ₹1.01 Lakhs), ‘champisback’ (BSS MegaStack ₹5 Lakhs GTD (RE) for ₹1 Lakhs) and ‘prcp’ (Sunday ₹1 Lakh GTD (RE) for ₹18,387).
The other winners on PokerStars India’s Sunday roster were ‘kgjadoo’ (The Classic NLHE ₹1.5 Lakhs GTD for ₹49,705), ‘Sogani22’ (Sunday Stars ₹2 Lakhs GTD for ₹39,320), ‘SirRampagealot’ (Sunday Storm ₹2 Lakhs GTD for ₹38,516) and ‘freak_weird0’ (Sunday Warm-Up ₹1.5 Lakhs GTD for ₹34,869).
PokerGuru Team Ambassador Rony ‘bisadip176’ Chowdhury was seen making a deep run in the BSS MegaStack ₹5 Lakhs GTD (RE). Chowdhury missed the title by a whisker, falling in second place for ₹72,980. Meanwhile, Mithun ‘ThePokeRajaIN’ Mahesh final tabled the Sunday Special on PokerStars India finishing ninth for ₹26,866, while Nadeem ‘Downtownplaya’ Basha finished 24th for ₹19,433 in the same event.
9stacks’ signature Sunday tournament the Sunday Stacks ₹15 Lakhs GTD was taken down by well-known pro Gaurav ‘mozzie17’ Sood who outlasted 207 unique entries to claim the title and ₹2.92 Lakhs in cash prize.
On fast-growing site Khelo 365, the prime Sunday tournament, Big Splash ₹75K GTD was won by ‘Amaru’ for ₹37,950 while ‘Ja59405’ topped the Deep Stack ₹30K GTD NLHE (Max 5 Rebuys) for ₹18,576.
MadOverPoker (MOP)’s most popular online tournament Rehab came back with a bang and ₹5 Lakhs in guaranteed prize money. The popular tournament registered 323 entries (includes 145 re-entries) with ‘ganpat’ outlasting them all to earn a well-deserved ₹88,000.
