It was a firecracker Sunday on the virtual felts with Spartan Poker and PokerBaazi driving the action. Hogging the limelight was Spartan Poker’s ‘The Millionaire X5 – ₹1 Million to Top 5’ that came to a thundering close last night. First hosted in 2016, The Millionaire has consistently improved upon its prize pool offerings these last three years. The November 2017 edition was the first time that it featured a ₹1 Crore guarantee, and since then, the event has evolved to become an iconic event. In its latest run, The Millionaire broke all past expectations – it promised ₹10 Lakhs to the five top finishers, but with a massive ₹1.14 Crores prize pool collection, in the end, each of the five finalists took away a whopping ₹11.40 Lakhs each! And joining the elite Millionaire X5 club last night were well-known pros like Ashish ‘Donkey07’ Munot and Eka ‘gettingthere’ Vedantham, alongside ‘Button_clicking,’Secretariat,’ and ‘giraffeganger_1’ – the real identities of which were not available to us at the time of publishing this report.

Incidentally, Munot had qualified for Day 2 from two separate flights. As the event format permitted, he was able to play on different tables with these two stacks. He succeeded in crossing the money line with his second stack as well, posting a 46th place score to bank an additional ₹25,097. With his two scores, Munot won a cumulative ₹11.65 Lakhs in the event! Vedantham also earned a 62nd place score from an additional stack for ₹18,252, taking his total earnings in the event to ₹11.59 Lakhs.

With The Millionaire now done and dusted, all eyes are currently on the Baazi Poker Tour (BPT) that kicks off at the PokerBaazi LIVE poker room onboard the Casino Pride 2 in Goa on October 9. PokerBaazi hosted the first starting flight of its flagship BPT Main Event ₹2 Crores GTD online last night. The response to the Flight 1A was rather tepid with 80 entries (75 unique and 5 re-entries) – perhaps due to the festivities. It took nearly three-and-half hours for Day 1A to get over, and at the end of its all, 11 had bagged a stack for Day 2 with Prabhat Kiran ‘Miracle’ Mukherjea (722,851) in the lead. One of the early breeds of poker professionals in the country, Mukherjea, has an outstanding record both live and poker. The Kolkata-based pro, who is also a professional lawyer, was missing from poker action for several years before he came back into the scene after joining Team Haryana Hawks at Match IPL Season 2 in 2018. Mukherjea, who has recently invested in an online poker startup, is looking to make a comeback, and he seems to be on the right track after bagging the chip lead with a stack of 722,851 for Day 2 of the BPT Main Event. Close on Mukherjea`s tail is PSL co-founder Pranav ‘Salmon123’ Bagai (381,158) while ‘dybalamask’ (317,012) rounds out the top three stacks.

India`s largest online poker site, Adda52, may not be the dominant player when it comes to tournaments, but there were still two Sunday majors that played out on the site last night. The Mega Suits ₹25 Lakhs GTD suffered from an overlay of ₹80,000 and was taken down by ‘Actionbalaji’ for ₹6.12 Lakhs. The second Sunday major on the site, Big Slick ₹15 Lakhs GTD performed better and managed to reach its advertised guarantee. ‘atrij’ came out on top in the event to win the top prize of ₹2.15 Lakhs.

Coming back to PokerBaazi, former GameChanger champion Prashanth ‘Iveyleague’ Sekar bested the BSS SuperStack ₹25 Lakhs GTD (RE) to bank the winner’s cheque of ₹5.55 Lakhs. Prabhat ‘greatgatsby’ Paliya (The Monster 6-Max ₹5 Lakhs GTD for ₹1.23 Lakhs) and Faiz ‘AilaGaya’ Alam (BSS PLO ₹2 Lakhs GTD for ₹53,600) were the other big winners on the site.

Another well-known name in the domestic circuit, Madhav ‘Madzoopa’ Gupta stole the thunder on Spartan Poker yesterday. Gupta outlasted a field of 590 entries (283 unique, 114 re-entries, and 193 rebuys) in the Sunday SuperStack ₹30 Lakhs GTD to win the title for ₹4.95 Lakhs. GanescaTorza’ was the other big winner on Spartan Poker and won the Big Daddy ₹6 Lakhs GTD for ₹1.25 Lakhs.

On 9stacks’, The Joker ₹15 Lakhs GTD was championed by Ryan ‘AnAAKKonda’ Cardoso for ₹3.67 Lakhs.

On PokerStars India, the Sunday Special PKO ₹15 Lakhs GTD was taken down by Sahil ‘inaboobham’ Mahboobani for ₹2.86 Lakhs while PokerStars India Sunday Special (L) Monster Stack Edition crowned a winner in Vipul ‘$coobieDoobie’ Tiwari who locked in a heads-up deal with Ram ‘TheLagLawyer’ Kakkar. Tiwari pocketed ₹1.55 Lakhs for his win, while Kakkar collected ₹1.73 Lakhs for his runner-up finish.

Khelo365 was another site that offered great value last night. The biggest Sunday winner on the site was ‘Rughani’, who took down the Pre Dussehra SPL ₹3 Lakhs GTD for ₹1.29 Lakhs. As expected, the event was hit by an overlay of ₹85,000 in meeting its advertised guarantee. The other events on the site also suffered overlays with ‘firehawk729’ (Twister ₹2 Lakhs GTD Deepstack NLHE for ₹86,000), ‘richierich11′ (Mega Splash ₹1 Lakh GTD for ₹46,000) and ‘apalece’ (Big Bang ₹1 Lakhs GTD for ₹46,000) coming out trumps.
