’Twas the night before Christmas and all the premier poker sites have already begun giving out the big presents to all the players who made it to the winners’ list.
With mere days left for the year to close out, PokerStars India rounded up things in style with the Winter Series. Boasting of ₹1.65 Crores in guarantees, the series crowned many champions, but headlining the list is the winner of the Winter Series #33 Main Event ₹35 Lakhs GTD Abhineet ‘pokemon13s’ Jain who decimated an extremely competitive field of 467 entries (293 unique and 174 re-entries) and added ₹6.23 Lakhs to his bankroll. Team PokerStars pro Aditya Agarwal made a strong bid for the title and pocketed ₹2.33 Lakhs for his fourth-place finish.
To sweeten the deal further, the site rewarded the top 3 finishers in the Main Event along with the closest 3 players to bust before the money bubble at the event with a ticket each to the ₹4 Lakhs GTD European Poker Tour (EPT) Sochi Main Event qualifier that was hosted at the site on December 24. The winners of this contest were, Abhineet ‘pokermon13s’ Jain, Aditya Agarwal, Muneesh ‘nirwair’ Tarsem, ‘Akshay ‘youcantcallme’ Nasa, Ankur ‘InfinityAG1’ Gupta and Sandeep Varma ‘effuno007’ RS.
Other PokerStars Winter Series special events crowned winners in ‘alankar63’ (Deep Hyper NLHE ₹1,650 NLHE ₹2.25 Lakhs GTD – ₹49,158), Alok ‘VotaryoftheLaw’ Ranjan (Final Warm Up ₹1,100 NLHE ₹2 Lakhs GTD- ₹39,756), ‘tanayp’ (Winter Storm Rebuy ₹275 NLHE [6-Max] ₹2 Lakhs GTD – ₹37,915), ‘rahul.roy1423’ (Last Chance Supersonic ₹1,100 NLHE ₹1.5 Lakhs GTD- ₹29,345), and ‘yogybaba’ (Bubble Rush ₹550 ₹75K GTD- ₹12,936).
Outside of the Winter Series, only one other high-value tournament was hosted on PokerStars India, i.e. the Sunday Stars which pulled in 65 entries (40 unique and 25 re-entries). Topping them all was ‘sheldon11cooper’, who bagged ₹51,365 following a heads-up deal with ‘Sogani22’ who finished runner-up for ₹40,468.
India’s most trusted poker site, PokerBaazi returned to its regular routine of Sunday tournaments following the conclusion of the hugely successful PokerBaazi Premier League (PPL) Winter ’18 edition. ‘Maahi13’ emerged as the biggest winner on the site for taking down the Baazi Super Sunday (BSS) SuperStack ₹15 Lakhs GTD and collected ₹2.87 Lakhs in prize money. Yashi ‘FadeOrHolz’ Mishra shipped the BSS PLO ₹5 Lakhs GTD for ₹1.41 Lakhs, while Akash ‘akash_durr’ Gupta placed first in the BSS MegaStack ₹5 Lakhs GTD for ₹1.09 Lakhs. The Monster 6-Max ₹5 Lakhs GTD found a winner in Abhishek ‘abhi3333’ Garg who grabbed ₹1.06 Lakhs in prize money.
9stacks’ mainstay event, the Sunday Stacks was taken down by Chirag Sandip ‘chilling’ Sodha who outlasted a field of 135 unique entries to win ₹3.82 Lakhs in prize money.
Meanwhile, PokerRaj’s Nations Cup Qualifier awarded ₹35,000 to Man Singh ‘ANACONDA’ Yadav for winning the event, along with a chance to represent Team India at the 2019 IFMP Nation’s Cup.
MadOverPoker came out all guns blazing with it`s Sunday Super Grind series which offered four back-to-back tournaments. The main attraction, however, was the ₹5 Lakhs guarantee tournament -Rehab. Vasu ‘Edawg’ Wadhwani captured the title, along with the top prize of ₹99,912. The other Sunday events crowned winners in Saroj ‘XERXES’ Mondal (Dynamite for ₹31,063 and NightCrawler for ₹16,960) and Uday ‘U2day’ Mondal (Grenade for ₹21,222).

The ₹7,700 NLHE ₹35 Lakhs GTD Main Event was the showstopper event at the PokerStars India Winter Series and attracted an impressive 293 entries and 174 re-entries. Trailblazing his way to the top was well-known pro Abhineet ‘pokemon13s’ Jain, who beat down heavy competition to win the event for ₹6.23 Lakhs. Team PokerStars pro Aditya Agarwal was among the top contenders for the title but fell short at fourth place for ₹2.33 Lakhs. Online regulars Anuj ‘brockLesnar95’ Yadav and Vikram ‘Prison M!ke’ Singh were among the other notables who final tabled the event.
