This past Sunday witnessed exciting poker action on the virtual felts. India’s most trusted poker site, PokerBaazi continued to attract the big crowds, last Sunday (March 17), the site’s flagship event – Baazi Super Sunday (BSS) SuperStack ₹25 Lakhs GTD – had recorded 648 entries (383 unique and 265 re-entries) and the week before that, the event had registered 597 entries (353 unique and 244 re-entries). On both occasions, the tournament’s guarantee of ₹25 Lakhs was smashed. Carrying on this tradition, this Sunday, the BSS SuperStack attracted 632 entries (351 unique and 281 re-entries), overshooting its guarantee with the prize pool collection reaching ₹31.60 Lakhs. ‘Slecker’ catapulted to the top of the event to claim the title; however, he faced some tough competition along the way from the likes of PokerGuru Ambassador Vivek ‘Nutpeddling729’ Singh (5th for ₹1.28 Lakhs), Ram ‘Mowgumotu’ Kakkar (7th for ₹65,096) and Sandy ‘Ziigmund’ Lamba (8th for ₹52,456). ‘Slecker’ eventually came up against PokerBaazi Team pro Abhisek ‘AbhisekPanda’ Panda in the heads-up play where he bested the veteran pro to take home an impressive ₹5.46 Lakhs in prize money. Panda pocketed ₹3.58 Lakhs for his runner-up finish.
The other winners on PokerBaazi’s Sunday roster were Vinay ‘vinay09’ Rajpal (BSS PLO ₹5 Lakh GTD for ₹1.02 Lakhs), ‘Shrijitnair’ (BSS MegaStack ₹5 Lakhs GTD for ₹98,250) and ‘Shubham2708’ (Sunday ₹1 Lakh GTD for ₹17,800).
PokerStars India witnessed a slight decline in the number of entries in its weekly mainstay event – Sunday Special Progressive KO ₹25 Lakhs GTD. The high-value tournament recorded an all-time high of 479 entries (281 unique and 198 re-entries) on March 17. However, this past Sunday, the event registered 468 entries (284 unique and 184 re-entries). The global brand had increased the guarantee of its most popular Sunday event from ₹20 Lakhs to ₹25 Lakhs on March 3 coinciding with the announcement of Nawazzudin Siddique as its first celebrity ambassador. This event has not been able to meet its guarantee since the increase in the prize pool guarantee resulting in juicy overlays for three straight weeks now. This Sunday’s tournament crowned a winner in ‘999AykA999’ who claimed ₹3.85 Lakhs, after striking a three-way deal with Viren ‘Virshallsee’ Gandhi (runner-up for ₹2.29 Lakhs) and Bijay ‘jarvis590’ Sarkar (3rd for ₹2.10 Lakhs).
