As poker players all across the country prepare for the weekend extravaganza, let’s take a quick look back at all the freaky action that went down on the virtual felts on Friday.

Spartan Poker’s BIGGEST online tournament – The Millionaire ₹1 Crores GTD – is back! The first starting flight, Day 1A, played out on Friday night and registered 409 entries (262 unique, 60 re-entries and 87 rebuys). 20-year-old Srihari ‘bangbang99’ Bang had shipped IOPC Millionaire in July for a personal-best score of ₹48.56 Lakhs. While there are still a few days to go before a champion is crowned, Day 1A saw ‘xxbajxx1’ emerge as the chip leader with a stack of 2,47,045, while ‘ONmyMAC’ (2,03,701) and Vivek ‘KasolHieghts’ Singh (1,90,335) rounded out the top three stacks on the opening flight.

Though The Millionaire was undoubtedly the featured tournament on Spartan Poker last night, two other big guarantee events were also hosted by the site yesterday. The Elite ₹20 Lakhs GTD was championed by ‘ddege001’ who has now won this event in two consecutive weeks. The champion walked away with a whopping ₹4.80 Lakhs payday. Meanwhile, Spartan Poker’s TGIF ₹10 Lakhs GTD saw model-turned-poker pro Shravan ‘D.Trump04’ Chhabria traverse a field of 649 entries (285 unique, 99 re-entries and 265 rebuys) to bank a top prize worth ₹1.94 Lakhs.

Adda52’s Whale – 6 Max ₹15 Lakhs GTD attracted 202 entries (142 unique and 60 re-entries). Topping the field was yet another familiar face in Rajat ‘OshoSwami’ Sharma who bagged ₹4.17 Lakhs for his victory. In fact, Sharma picked up another final table score in Grinders Friday SuperStack on PokerBaazi last night where he finished third for ₹44,608.

PokerBaazi’s FRI-YAY ₹10 Lakhs GTD declared a winner in Anurag ‘13anurag’ Shrivastava, who netted ₹2.20 Lakhs in prize money while the Grinders Friday SuperStack ₹3 Lakhs GTD was topped by Rajneesh ‘msdhoni’ Thakur for ₹99,015.

PokerStars India’s Friday schedule hosted two high-value events which were won by ‘RateDocter’ (Uppercut – Progressive KO ₹8 Lakhs GTD for ₹1.65 Lakhs) and Dhinesh ‘you3betl4bet’ Kumar (6 – Max NLHE ₹2 Lakhs GTD for ₹42,295).

9stacks’ daily mainstay tournament – StackUp @ 8PM ₹2.50 Lakhs GTD – was taken down by Sagar ‘Dont3betme’ Choudhury for ₹65,000.

Entries – 262

Re-entries – 60

Rebuys – 87

A marquee offering of Spartan Poker, The Millionaire ₹1 Crores GTD ranks high in popularity amidst the online circuit. On its inaugural run way back in September 2016, the tournament had featured a modest ₹10 Lakhs guarantee. The raving response to the event led the site to up the guarantee to a bold ₹20 Lakhs in January 2017 and then to a whopping ₹1 Crore for their Diwali-special run in November 2017. At this time the tournament was the biggest-guaranteed online tournament to be ever hosted in India! It set a record in terms of attendance, with 2,341 entries hitting the felts and Coimbatore-based Lawrence ‘polarized’ Sanjay captured the limelight by shipping the event for ₹27.50 Lakhs. Last year in December, Vinod ‘Champ1234’ Megalmani had championed the event to bank his largest online cash of ₹25 Lakhs.

The multi-day tournament is now back, with yet another edition kicking off with the first of its three starting flights starting 6 PM on Friday.

Day 1A logged in a total of 409 entries (262 unique, 60 re-entries and 87 rebuys), and end of play only 60 among them could carry stacks to Day 2.

Topping the list of survivors was ‘xxbajxx1’ (2,47,045) while ‘ONmyMAC’ (2,03,701) is the only other player with secure more than 2 Million in chips. Vivek ‘KasolHieghts’ Singh (1,90,335) rounds out the top three stacks from Day 1A.

A number of big names were in the fray and part of the survivors list was Rubin ‘kornkid’ Labroo (1,06,367), Arsh ‘BigggTymeR’ Grover (1,05,116) Faiz ’DrStrange’ Alam (95,397), Neel ‘Worm33’ Joshi (88,274), Ashish ‘Spewushhhiiiii’ Ahuja (71,702), Sam ‘Lokimon’ Anand (60,495) and Guneet ‘guntz’ Kwatra (54,997).

Day 1B of the event begins at 6 PM today while Day 1C is scheduled for 4 PM on Sunday. The tournament format allows players to increase their chances of making it in the money by participating in all Day 1A’s and surviving them. Players who manage to do so can compete with up to four individual stacks carried to Day 2, that will be merged at some point during the tournament!
