With the live poker scene in Macau going through a phase of decline, other regions in Asia, specifically, Manila, have seen an increase in live tournaments.
On the heels of World Series of Poker (WSOP) confirming the full schedule of its 50th anniversary special series, another global poker giant, PokerStars, yesterday announced the 2019 schedule for the Asia-Pacific region.
Along with the details of two flagship events on the Asia Pacific Poker Tour (APPT), namely APPT Korea and APPT Manila, information regarding two smaller festivals i.e. Okada Millions and Manila Megastack were also released.
Manila is fast emerging as one of the hottest poker destinations in the Asia-Pacific region and evidencing this is the fact that PokerStars has not one, but two tours lined-up in the Filipino capital.
Before the APPT Manila comes to town, it will be the Okada Manila Millions that will pull in the crowds to its namesake casino from February 5 to 10. The series features 13 events, including the PHP2,500 Main Event which has a PHP 2 Million guarantee. With half a million of the prize money guaranteed for the winner, the event will kick-off on February 6, with the final table commencing on February 10.
Additionally, the PHP3,000 NLH Deepstack event, may also turn out to be a hit among the players due to its PHP200,000 guarantee.

From March 1 to 10, the Coral Wing of the Okada Manila will be home to the 11th edition of the Manila Megastack.
The series boasts of PHP 17 Million in guaranteed prize money in four tournaments.

The APPT Korea which will be held from April 5 to 14 at the Paradise City in Incheon. The pièce de résistance of the series will be the Main Event, which has a KRW 1,800,000 buy-in along with a KRW 300,000,000 guarantee and will begin from April 11. However, there will be other equally exciting events at the stop as well.

While the Kick Off event offers a guarantee of KRW 50 Million, the National events boast of a KRW 80 Million prize pool guarantee.
From Korea, the action will shift to Manila where the Okada Manila casino will play host to the APPT Manila from July 26 to August 4.
PokerStars has released the details of two of the series’ most notable events, i.e. the APPT Manila Kick Off and the APPT Manila National.

The star attraction will be the PHP 65,000 buy-in Main Event starting August 1, with PHP 20 million guaranteed. Last year, Marc Rivera had won the National Main Event for around $86,000 and with that a PSPC Platinum Pass, which he turned into a $2,168,000 windfall after finishing third at the PSPC earlier this month.
These four series are a preliminary list of events that PokerStars has announced and there is a possibility that more stops will be added to the list as the year progresses.
