International online poker brands have been reshuffling their team of ambassadors and pros lately with partypoker becoming the latest brand to not only announce its brand-new Team Online but to also appoint Matt Staples (cover image) as the first member of the high-profile new squad.

partypoker’s Team Online

For a while now there were whispers among the online community that partypoker was about to make a big announcement, but no one had imagined that the brand would be announcing its Team Online.

The announcement made by partypoker promised “a collection of some of the world’s most high-profile online poker content creators and streamers”, with further names expected to be released over the coming days.

Explaining the idea behind forming Team Online, partypoker stated, “Team Online forms part of a wider company strategy earmarked for the following weeks and months with the focus on streaming quality, engaging content across partypoker’s main Twitch channel.”

This statement was consistent with the brands prior announcement that it would be joining hands with Bill PerkinsTwitch TV streaming channel ‘The Thirst Lounge’ as sponsors.

The Staples brothers, Jaime and Matt, have a tendency to always stay in the news, be it their $150,000 weight loss prop bet with Bill Perkins, or Jaime getting engaged or his departure from PokerStars as a Team pro. Though Jaime has been more noticeable than his brother, it seems like the time for Matt to shine has finally arrived.

Matt Staples recently tweeted that he had been chosen by partypoker to become a member of their newly launched Team Online.

The 22-year old is a popular Twitch streamer and his channel has over 3 million views and 52,000 followers which partypoker termed as “a sizeable community following across his Twitch and various other social media accounts in recent years”.

Regarding his appointment, Matt stated, “I am incredibly excited to be entering into a sponsorship with partypoker. Becoming a sponsored pro is something I’ve aspired to for a while now, and I couldn’t be happier about the partnership.” He added: “There’s nothing I like more than streaming tournaments on Twitch, and I’m pumped to have the opportunity to showcase and help grow partypoker and their Twitch community.”

However, that’s not all! Word on the street is that following their very public separation from PokerStars, Jeff Gross and Jaime Staples may be next to come aboard the partypoker Team Online banwagon.

The coming days will reveal what plans partypoker has regarding Team Online.
