Baazi Poker Tour: Neel Joshi Headlines 27 Survivors From Day 1C of the Main Event

The third starting flight of the Baazi Poker Tour (BPT) ₹50K Main Event was the busiest flight thus far. Registering a massive 193 entries, which was the highest turnout out of all four starting flights, Day 1C helped the BPT Main Event comfortably crush its advertised guarantee. Counting entries from Day 1D, which was a turbo flight, the event managed to put together 567 entries in total, resulting in a colossal prize pool of ₹2.66 Crores. The eventual champion will bank a life-altering ₹55.03 Lakhs, along with the coveted BPT crown!

Well-known pro Neel Joshi (cover image) amassed the biggest stack of 566,000 among the 27 survivors on Day 1C. Joshi has been in top form throughout the series and even cashed the ₹100K High Roller, finishing 18th for ₹2 lakhs. He will be joined by Anant Purohit (467,000) and High Roller fourth-place finisher Vivek Rughani (416,000), at the top.

Other notable stacks belong to Abhinav Iyer (358,000), Akanksha Singh (329,000), Arsh Grover (266,000), Alok Birewar (247,000), Gokul Krishna (178,000), PokerGuru Ambassador Nadeem Basha (169,000), and Ayush Garg (106,000).

The 94 survivors (Day 1A – 11, Day 1B – 26, Day 1C – 27 and Day 1D – 30) will return for Day 2 at 3 PM on October 13. There is also the ₹20K Big Bounty that starts at 6 PM.

The prize pool was announced a short while back. A colossal number of 567 entries (Day 1A – 80, Day 1B – 174, Day 1C – 194 and Day 1D – 120) have been registered over a period of three days (Day 1A was held online on October 6). The prize pool for the event was clocked at ₹2.66 Crores, easily surpassing its advertised guarantee. The top 63 places are assured a min-cash of ₹1.01 Lakhs, with the Main Event champion expected to walk away with a jaw-dropping ₹55.03 Lakhs!

A while back, PokerStars India Team pro Aditya Agarwal had become a short stack with 4 BBs. He shoved from hijack to which he entire tabled folded. Five hands later, Agarwal secured a double up which saw his stack rise to 10 BBs. Soon after that, Agarwal found another double up.

It’s still early in the flight, so we didn’t expect to see many eliminations in the first few levels of play. Unfortunately for PokerGuru Ambassador Jayjit Ray, he got into a cooler situation with a premium hand that resulted in his elimination. The action saw him opening the pot, and he got two callers – Bharat Kumar and Akshay Nasa. It was three-way to the flop ten-eight-four (2 clubs). Nasa and Ray checked before Kumar bet 1,300 into a pot of 2,000. Nasa flatted, and Ray check-raised it to 6,000. Kumar re-popped it to 17,000, and that was enough to get Nasa to fold. It`s the last day to enter the BPT Main Event, and the seats are just starting to fill with the majority of the players who missed out on making the cut for Day 2 expected to show up today!

Welcome back for the coverage of Day 1C of the BPT ₹50K Main Event. This is showstopper event at this comeback series, and it’s today when we will find out what the final field size will be at the marquee event – the last two flights both play down today.

As has been the norm at this series, all events have started bang on time. It has already been ten minutes since Day 1C started, and the tournament clock is showing 43 entries.
