The Baazi Poker Tour (BPT) is now in full swing. Friday saw the most awaited tournament on the schedule, the ₹50K Main Event kicking off the first of its three live starting flights. To call Day 1 B exciting would be an understatement – it was action-packed to the hilt! The play kicked off at 5 PM, and by the time registration closed at the end of Level 7, many players had fired more than a single bullet. Over the 10 hours play, there was a war waged on the felts, and while 174 entries were registered, at the end of the day, only 26 survived through to Day 2.

Leading the charge is none other than Gagandeep Malik! The 31-year old pro from Raipur, Chhattisgarh, rose to prominence in 2016 when he took down the 2016 DPT November ₹60K High Roller. Malik raked in several significant accomplishments over the next year, adding the 2017 DPT July ₹15K Bounty title to his tally. Today, Malik edged past many bigwigs to take the top spot and is sporting a stack of 545,000.

Close behind Malik is the 2018 WPT Vietnam Main Event winner Dhaval Mudgal. Mudgal has been in phenomenal form this year, with numerous deep runs and final table finishes across several big live stops in Asia, including APT Vietnam and Manila Megastack. We saw Mudgal pick up scores at the WSOP this summer, and he even final tabled two IPC events last month, most prominently finishing third in the ₹35K Main Event for ₹22.27 Lakhs. With 459,000 in his bag, we can count on Mudgal making a strong bid for the title on Day 2.

Rounding out the top three stacks is the 2019 DPT February High Roller champion Abhishek Goindi. One of the more well-recognized regulars on the circuit, Goindi had finished runner-up at the WPT Barcelona €1,100 PLO this March. He carries a stack of 334,000 to Day 2.

Other big stacks making it to Day 2 include Haider Madraswala (311,000), PokerGuru Ambassador Ashish Munot (296,000), Vasim Rozani (256,000), Manish Gandhi (252,000), Deep Patel (240,000), Maria Kirloskar (238,000) and Raghav Bansal (103,000). PokerStars India Team Pro Muskan Sethi (37,000) managed to take forward a short stack to Day 2.

Malik may have taken pole position on Day 1B but he is still a distant second to Day 1A (online) chip leader Prabhat Kiran ‘Miracle’ Mukherjea (722,851) who remains firmly at the forefront of the 37 players who have confirmed a berth on Day 2 from the Day 1A and Day 1B flights. The event has already logged in a total of 254 entries. With two more starting flights scheduled to run tomorrow, the 500-entry mark is very much in sight.

Day 1C kicks off at 3 PM on Saturday and will be followed by the Day 1D (Turbo) flight that starts at 9 PM. The weekend promises exciting and nail-biting action at the PokerBaazi LIVE poker room, and the PokerGuru live reporting team will be on-site to bring you all the updates, so stay tuned.
