Jared Jaffee (cover image) seems to be on a roll as he recently bested a field of 687 players to win the $1,675 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Circuit Main Event hosted at the Bicycle Casino in Los Angeles to bank a payday of $211,220. With this, Jaffee adds a Circuit title to his impressive portfolio which already includes a WSOP gold bracelet and a WPT title.

Superstition can sometime pay off well and that seems to be the case with Jaffee as in his post win interview, he attributed the win to a lucky Buddha trinket that his friend Sam Panzica gave him.

Apparently, Jaffee told Panzica he had to bring him “a lucky souvenir” and if he forgot, Panzica owed him a bitcoin. Panzica complied and according to Jaffee, since receiving the new card protector, a bad 2017 has turned around drastically.

Jaffee immediately went on to ship the $1,620 six-max event at WPT Five Diamond for $84K and a week later, made a deep run in the $10,400 WPT Five Diamond Main Event, finishing 28th for $38K. Now, one week later, he makes an even bigger score and wins a ring!

Final Table Action

Tuan Phan was the first elimination at the official final table when he shoved his small stack with king-jack over Edward Liu’s open who held pocket sixes. No help for Phan and he exited the event in ninth place.

Short stacked Brian Small was out next in with eight place followed by Chahn Jung.

Los Angeles based Mike Eskandari busted in sixth place after losing a flip to eventual champion Jaffee leaving the latter with almost half the chips in play with five left.

Edward Liu became the fifth-place finisher and next to fall was Aaron Frei as he got his short stack in with king-four and couldn’t find help against the pocket sevens of Brendan Baksh.

Shortly after dinner break, short stacked Kelly Minkin shoved with pocket tens against the  of Baksh. Four hearts on the board and Baksh busted Minkin in third place to set up the heads-up duel against Jaffee.

Jaffee went into heads-up with nearly a two-to-one chip lead which he quickly extended and in spite of Baksh doubling up, tides turned again and it was soon over. The last of the event saw Jaffee in a dominating position with pocket kings against jack-ten offsuit of Baksh. The kings held and Jaffee sealed the deal.

Post his win, the champion said, “It was nice that I was able to rebuild and get to the final table with her, but it was close and you don’t usually get to go that deep with someone you are friends with. So, I’m thankful for that. It was a lot of fun.”
