Dan Wagner Takes Down HPT The Meadows $1,100 Main Event For $76,165

The Heartland Poker Tour (HPT) The Meadows $1,100 Main Event pulled in 345 entries generating a prize pool of $334,650. Outlasting the field to take down his first-ever HPT title was West Seneca, New York native, Dan Wagner (cover image) who banked $76,165 in prize money for his win.

With a little under $900,000 in total live winnings, this was Wagner’s sixth overall tournament win and first-ever HPT title. He had entered the final table with the biggest stack, and after orchestrating the eliminations of Jason Pickup and eventual runner-up Anthony McIe, Wagner took down the event for $76,165 and even won a $3,500 HPT Championship package in the process!

Talking about his win in the post-event interview, Wagner said, “I ran great for the last three hours. They gave me the cards. I didn’t have to do anything.”

A total of 36 places received payouts and the notables who finished in the money included Griffin Abel (11th for $6,292), Brian Patterson (12th for $6,292), Jack Kerr (14th for $4,735), Vince Palma (20th for $2,980) and Henry Zou (26th for $2,980).

Final Table Recap

After losing a big pot to Jason Pickup, George Stathers became the first casualty of the final table. His were overrun by Anthony McIe’s . With the board offering no help to Stathers, he walked out in ninth place.

About ten minutes later, Kelly Becker‘s ran into Pickup’s , bringing about her eighth-place exit.

Next to go was Christopher Lee when his were outdone by Lydia Waltonbaugh’s . The board brought and Waltonbaugh hit a eight-high straight, ending Lee’s run in seventh place.

Five minutes later, it was Marcus Gaunt‘s turn to leave the final table. His were bested by Waltonbaugh’s , and Gaunt bowed out in sixth place.

Towards the end of level 29, Andy Spears jammed with , and McIe called holding . The community cards revealed , and Mcle flopped a set of jacks to knock Spears out in fifth place.

Finishing in fourth place was Jason Pickup. His were cracked by Wagner’s which bettered to a pair of tens on the runout , sending Pickup to the rail.

Down to three-handed play, Lydia Waltonbaugh moved all-in with and McIe called with . The board ran and Mcle rivered a pair of aces to eliminate Waltonbaugh in third place.

The final showdown between Anthony McIe (6,400,000) and Dan Wagner (3,950,000) commenced with Mcle in the lead. Nonetheless, Wagner kept chipping up steadily and, in the end, took the win away from Mcle.

On the penultimate hand, McIe opened on the button to 500,000 with . Wagner immediately announced all-in holding . Mcle snap-called to see the board open . Wagner rivered quads and raked in the huge pot. After that, Mcle only had 1.4 Million in chips left, and in the very next hand, he moved all-in pre-flop with . Wagner called with .
