Mediarex Sports and Entertainment owned Global Poker Index (GPI) is today the industry benchmark for indexing live tournament poker players across the world. The GPI recently announced the Global Poker Awards to recognize poker excellence both on and off the felts. On March 18, the GPI finally came out with the nominations for the first edition of the Global Poker Awards in 13 different categories. GPI has partnered with Poker Central for broadcasting the award ceremony on Poker Central’s popular streaming platform, PokerGO on April 5.

Ironically for the fast growing Indian poker industry, though a total of 20 awards will be given away, Indian players and poker professionals were glaringly missing from the nominations.

President of GPI and TheHendonMob, Eric Danis in his official statement said, “I’m really happy with our partnerships with PokerStars and Poker Central. To have the very first Global Poker Awards presented on PokerGO is very important for us. Being able to work with legendary talents like Mori Eskandani and Dan Gati is amazing.”

Danis added, “We have another incredible list of nominees this year. Tons of talent from players, to media to industry powerhouses – I can’t wait to see who takes home one of the 20 Global Poker Award trophies on April 5th!”
