Felix Schulze Ends Trailblazing Week by Taking Down the WPTDeepStacks Amsterdam Main Event For €104,304

The WPTDeepStacks Amsterdam €1,200 Main Event, hosted at the Holland Casino Amsterdam Center, ran from March 28 to 31 amidst a starting field of 507 runners. German player Felix Schulze (cover image) emerged victorious at the event and clinched his first-ever WPT Main Event title along with €104,304 in prize money.

It has been a fantastic week for Schulze who not only took down the Main Event but also won titles in WPTDS €330 Hyper event and the €330 Shortdeck event.

Commenting on his week, the champion said, “I feel pretty good, it’s been a decent week. I probably don’t realize how good it’s been right now in the moment, but I felt super comfortable in the Main Event having won two events already this week.”

Schulze began the final day as the chip leader and following the eliminations of James Thody, Enrico Camosci and Joey Weissman, Schulze came up against Emrah Cakmak in the heads-up finale. He easily defeated the latter and won the top honors along with a package worth €2,000 to the WPTDeepStacks European Championship Deauville Main Event!

“After my first win, I didn’t even have a winners photo taken. So, I joked with the tournament director that I would wait to have my picture taken as Main Event winner. He just came and congratulated me and was shocked it actually happened,” said Schulze.

Schulze now has his sight set on the WPTDeepStacks Europe POY €10,000 top prize, and his recent form had helped him climb up the rankings – he is currently placed third on the POY leaderboard.

Some big names that finished in the money included Joey Vittali (11th for $9,339), Tuan Pham (16th for $6,164), Tobias Peters (58th for $2,120) and Vincent Gabel (60th for $2,120).

Carlos Dacosta Dias was the first to leave the final table when his were overpowered by Enrico Camosci’s . Dias was eliminated in ninth place.

A level later, Menduh Kalmaz‘s run came to an end when his ran into Emrah Cakmak’s , resulting in Kalmaz’s eighth-place exit.

Just six minutes later, partypoker VIP Account Manager James Thody joined Kalmaz at the rail. Thody’s could not hold on against Felix Schulze’s , leading to the former’s seventh-place finish.

After the six finalists returned from the dinner break, it was Enrico Camosci turn to bid goodbye to the final table. Camosci got entangled in a hand against Schulze which saw the former’s crumble before Schulze’s superior . Camosci moved on to collect the sixth-place prize money.

Finishing in fifth place was Mark Wiegerinck. His were no match for Micha Hoedemaker’s which bettered to a two pair on the runout [c131].

Level 32 saw Micha Hoedemaker depart when his were bested by Joey Weissman’s when the latter rivered a pair of tens on the board . Hoedemaker busted out in fourth place.

Three-handed play between Cakmak, Schulze and Joey Weissman did not last very long. Soon enough Weissman pitted his against Schulze’s . The rundown brought , and Schulze’s pair of aces knocked Weissman out in third place.

The heads-up battle between Felix Schulze (9,000,000) and Emrah Cakmak (6,000,000) kicked off with the former enjoying a considerable lead over Cakmak. Cakmak fought hard to overcome the chip deficit but eventually forfeited the title to Schulze.

On the last hand of the event, Schulze called on the button holding and Cakmak moved all-in for 3,000,000 with . Schulze called to see the community cards bringing . The board offered no help to Cakmak, and he was relegated to the runner-up spot, while Schulze captured his first-ever WPT Main Event title and €104,304 in prize money.
