The 2019 European Poker Tour (EPT) Barcelona is now in the books, and one of the final events to wrap up proceedings at the series was the €10,300 EPT High Roller. Attracting 540 entries, the three-day-long tournament crowned a winner in American pro Chris Hunichen (cover image) who collected the trophy following a heads-up chop with runner-up Uri Reichenstein. While Hunichen claimed €841,345 for his victory, Reichenstein took home €794,415 in second-place prize money.

Ranked second on North Carolina’s All-Time Money list, Hunichen had started the week with some heart-breaking news regarding the death of a close friend and the deteriorating health of his dog.

Though the win may not be enough to completely overcome the sense of loss and devastation he may have been feeling, it should have helped in brightening his mood a little.

India’s first solo WSOP gold bracelet winner Abinav Iyer had also participated in the event but fell short of making it through to Day 2.

Day 3 had kicked off with 26 players returning to the felts. Following 17 eliminations, the nine-handed final table had convened.

The top 79 places were assured payouts and among the notables who finished in the money were names like Tony Miles (18th for €42,430), Ibrahim Ghassan (23rd for €37,190), Mustapha Kanit (29th for €27,760), Cary Katz (36th for €24,620), Luc Greenwood (38th for €24,620), Phachara Wongwichit (43rd for €21,480), Benjamin Pollak (46th for €21,480), Dario Sammartino (49th for €21,480), Sylvain Loosli (56th for €19,380), Patrik Antonius (60th for €19,380), Tobias Peters (67th for €19,380), PokerStars Ambassador Ramon Colillas (71st for €19,380), and Alex Foxen (72nd for €17,810).
