A new land-based gaming hub, Casino Strike opened its doors on Friday, July 29, at the Grand Hyatt Hotel, Bambolim, Goa, amidst a lot of pomp and a Las Vegas glitzy styled launch. Earlier the casino had been in the eye of a minor storm, with opposition party members objecting to the construction taking place at the hotel for the new launch.

Touted as one of the largest casinos ever, the launch of Casino Strike was a sparkling affair of Ibiza-type glamour, replete with flowing chutes of Dom Perignon in a vibrant setting of aerial dancers, gyrating between feathered plumes, colours and flowers.

The casino echoed with the sound of tinkling chips and the air was abuzz with excitement as customers sampled an array of delights in gaming, such as the royal ‘Thor Machines’, seen for the first time in Asia.

The 24 x 7 casino also has on offer the regular thrilling games of Roulette, ‘Sic Bo’ ‘The Baccarat’, ‘Mini Poker’ and the ‘Money Wheel.’

Construction Controversy

In the first week of July, the under-construction casino had created a furore, with GenNext, an NGO raising objections over the construction of the casino and when these had gone unheard, GenNext had moved the Goa High Court.

Durgadas Kamat, Chairman, GenNext had then claimed that the BJP govt was in the process of granting another casino license and accused it of encouraging the gambling industry.
