Two-time Academy Award-winning actor Ben Affleck was caught on video by TMZ in a drunken stupor coming out of a Hollywood Halloween party in Los Angeles. Though usually, this wouldn’t be an incident to make the headline, however, given the fact that Affleck is a recovering alcoholic, the news soon became one of incredible value for the paparazzi.
The 47-year-old actor is as well known for his acting chops as he is for his poker skills. He proved the same by booking a $1,500 profit after playing poker for just a few minutes at the Commerce Casino.
According to TMZ, Affleck was spotted leaving a Halloween party on Saturday night wearing a white mask and black outfit. As seen in the video below, the three-time Golden Globe Award winner was visibly drunk as he found it hard to stand straight.
Ironically, he had promoted a charity, The Midnight Mission, which supports homelessness and helps rehabilitate alcoholics, the same day he decided to go on a drinking binge. In fact, he had even vowed to make a donation to the charity in an Instagram post.
An accomplished poker player, Affleck’s only recorded live cash came in 2004 when he had won the $10,000 California State Poker Championship for $356,400. As per reports, after Affleck arrived at the L.A.-area cardroom, he sat down in a high-stakes poker game, buying in for $20,000. The table was full when Affleck showed up to play, but the players and the floor staff agreed to accommodate him by making the game 10-handed. Less than 15 minutes later, he racked up a $1,500 profit and headed for the exit.
TMZ caught up with Affleck the next day, and the actor told the reporters that he would not let this one slip up derail his path to sobriety.
The Cannery Casino is in shambles at the moment after an angry customer drove her Winnebago into the property’s main entrance on October 25.
According to reports, a 50-year-old woman who was said to have been ejected from the property for trespassing on Thursday night returned at 5 AM on Friday and intentionally rammed her recreational vehicle through the property’s glass doors. Though her motives are still unknown, it is suspected that she may have been under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time.
By the time the RV came to a halt, a 66-year-old Cannery custodian was found trapped under the vehicle. The employee was reportedly outside the casino when he was struck by the RV. He was critically injured but is expected to survive.
According to the casino’s staff, the unidentified woman continued to try to accelerate through the doors even after the vehicle’s forward progress had been halted. The casino staff was forced to remove her from the vehicle.
Police said they intend to file numerous charges against the woman, including attempted murder.
Despite the substantial damage to property, the casino is still functional, although its valet area and main entrance are currently off-limits.
Boyd Gaming, which acquired the assets of Cannery Casino Resorts in 2016, issued a statement saying the company was “focused and concerned on the welfare of our team member.”
