It was only last month that we saw the Baazi Poker Tour (BPT) make a spectacular comeback after an almost three-year hiatus. The second edition ran over six action-packed days at the PokerBaazi LIVE poker room at Casino Pride 2 in Goa. Enthused with the roaring success of the series, PokerBaazi has rolled out bigger plans for 2020!
By the sounds of it, the new-year celebrations will continue well into the first fortnight of the year! Starting January 2, the third edition of BPT will hit the floor running with the tournament action extending all the way through to January 14. And there is another pleasant surprise. The upcoming BPT series has a massive ₹7 Crores in guaranteed prizes lined up!
“Our vision behind the Baazi Poker Tour has been to offer India its best live poker experience. The first two editions witnessed phenomenal success and positive feedback from all quarters. For the third edition in 2020, we plan to not only offer a bigger prize pool but also make it the most accessible BPT yet for the players. We also aim to give them a taste of the original and iconic style of playing the game,” said PokerBaazi CEO, Navkiran Singh.
The most noticeable change this time around is the introduction of a new online avatar of the BPT called BPT Online. While the last edition saw the PokerBaazi team hosting the final table of two featured events of its flagship online series, PokerBaazi Premier League (PPL), at the PokerBaazi LIVE poker room in Goa, the brand has taken a somewhat different approach for the upcoming series. Dedicating the first four days to online events under the new BPT Online branding, this seems to be an effort towards integrating the success of the live brand onto the online platform more effectively.
BPT Online runs for four days from January 2 to 5 and brings out all the kinks with a ₹1 Crore GTD Main Event, ₹50 Lakhs GTD High Roller, ₹15 Lakhs GTD Bounty and ₹15 Lakhs GTD PLO among other massive tournaments. After a two-day break, the action moves over to the PokerBaazi LIVE poker room in Goa.

The PokerBaazi team had come out with all the bells and whistles to make the BPT comeback series a success, and things should be no different at the upcoming stop. With most top poker brands in the country making substantial investments in churning out quality video content to reach the masses, live stops like BPT have taken the lead by offering live-streaming of all featured events at the stop. With a year-long deal in place, the BPT will see the live-streaming of the final tables at all live events in 2020.
BPT Online
Back in October, PokerBaazi had tested the waters in mixing online action with live by hosting the final table of the PokerBaazi Premier League (PPL) High Roller and MoneyMaker on Casino Pride 2 just before the start of the second edition of the BPT. Taking a step forward in this direction is the introduction of the online avatar of the BPT – BPT Online – that mirrors the BPT Live schedule in parts while also bringing together many PokerBaazi weekly flagships. The headline event at BPT Online is the ₹1 Crore GTD Main Event that comes with a buy-in of ₹11,000 and will allow entries through two starting flights. There is also the High Roller ₹50 Lakhs GTD, Bounty ₹15 Lakhs GTD and PLO ₹15 Lakhs GTD on the schedule.
The other featured events at BPT Online include The Summit ₹35 Lakhs GTD, BSS Superstack ₹30 Lakhs GTD, BSS PLO Bounty ₹10 Lakhs GTD and BSS Megastack ₹15 Lakhs GTD. Each of these events comes with a substantial hike in the guarantee.
BPT Live
Adding an extra day over last time, the BPT Live series will enjoy a seven-day run starting January 8.
Sounding off the action will be the Kickoff ₹25 Lakhs GTD that features a lowered buy-in of ₹10,000. Like the Kickoff, the buy-ins of the ₹15 Lakhs GTD Bounty and the series headliner, Main Event, have also been slashed. The most significant cut has been made in the Main Event, where the buy-in has been brought down from ₹50,000 to ₹35,000.
While the buy-in for the ₹100K buy-in High Rollers remains the same, the organizers have put up a ₹1 Crore guarantee for the event at the upcoming stop.
The upcoming BPT edition also has an all-new entrant on the schedule – the ₹25,000 buy-in MegaStack ₹50 Lakhs GTD. The event will kick off on January 13 alongside Day 2 of the Main Event.
The series comes to a halt on November 14, where along with the Main Event final table, the last event on the schedule, the single-day PLO ₹20 Lakhs GTD will also play down to a winner. The buy-in for the PLO event is yet to be announced.
