The star attraction of the Baazi Poker Tour (BPT) January 2020 edition, the ₹35K Main Event, got off to a smooth start.
The opening flight, Day 1A pulled in 232 entries, with only 39 players advancing to Day 2. Phanindra Akkina, who recently took down Spartan Poker’s The Millionaire Legends ₹2 Crores GTD December Edition, proved that he is as good on the live felts as he is in online MTTs as he bagged the Day 1A chip lead with a stack of 501,500.
Among the notables who also bagged on Day 1A were the likes of Nitin Jain (437,000), PokerGuru Ambassadors Rony Chowdhury (409,000), Anish Patra (262,000), Young Gun Siddharth Karia (260,000), Vaibhav Shah (242,500), Jasven Saigal (231,500) and Rajeev Kanjani (141,000).
The second flight of the Main Event, Day 1B began at 9 PM and had a turbo format. Rubin Labroo accumulated the largest stack of 276,000 at the end of Level 15. Pranay Chawla (252,000), Neel Joshi (187,500), Chirag Sodha (170,000) and Aditya Sushant (167,500) were among the notable stacks of Day 1B.
Since Day 2 of the ₹100K High Roller was running alongside the Main Event, it took away quite a bit of the attention. PokerBaazi CEO Navkiran Singh shipped the event for ₹31.82 Lakhs after besting PokerGuru Ambassador Rohit Mishra in the heads-up. Mishra banked ₹22.02 Lakhs for his second-place finish.
All the players who missed out on qualifying for Day 2 of the Main Event from the first two starting flights, will get another chance to do so later today in Day 1C and 1D that commence at 4 PM and 9 PM, respectively.
