It was a smashing day at the Baazi Poker Tour (BPT) January 2020 edition where the third event of the series ₹100K High Roller logged in 118 entries with late registrations still open. The deep-structured event features a steep buy-and it is hardly surprising that it has attracted some of the best players in the country.
After a full day’s play, only 33 made it to Day 2 and it was none other than PokerGuru Ambassador Ashish Ahuja who came out as the end-of-day chip leader. Ahuja has been on a dominating run over the past year and the heater is showing little signs of waning off. Just two days back, Ahuja had taken down the BPT series-opener ₹10K Kick-Off for his first title in two years but he is not done yet. The Chandigarh-based pro is leading the charge to Day 2 with a towering stack of 601,000.
Ahuja’s closest competitor is seasoned pro Raghav Bansal (460,000).
It was a superb showing for the PokerGuru Ambassadors as three of Ahuja’s stable-mates, Rohit Mishra (454,500), Ashish Munot (274,000) and Ankit Wadhawan (105,000) have also secured their berth for Day 2.
The PokerBaazi team also had a strong showing in the event with PokerBaazi Team Pro Abhishek Rathod (420,000), PokerBaazi CEO Navkiran Singh (410,500) and PokerBaazi LIVE operator Nikhil Jain (114,000) carrying big stacks to Day 2.
We also saw former BPT champions Gokul Krishna (261,500) and the defending High Roller champion Rohit Jinwal (132,500) advancing to Day 2.
Vivek Rughani (323,000), Zarvan Tumboli (267,000), Abhishek Goindi (254,500), Romit Advani (253,500), Yudhister Jaiswal (215,500), former WPT champion Sriharsha Doddapaneni (215,000), Shashank Jain (204,000), Vikram ‘Lungi’ Kumar (188,500), Millionaire Legends champion Anish Patra (145,000), Kunal Patni (126,500), Siddharth Karia (122,000), and Eka Vedantham (102,000) were the other notable stacks who have made the cut for Day 2.
With late registrations open till the start of Level 17 on Day 2, we can foresee the event collecting a fat prize pool.
Day 2 will resume on Saturday at Level 16 with the blinds at 2,000/4,000 and ante 4,000, setting the stage for an adrenalin-pumping weekend!
