It was a power-packed Sunday last night! While the country was immersed in the celebration of Diwali, online poker sites were brimming with electrifying action, spearheaded by Spartan Poker’s SSS The Millionaire ₹1 Crore GTD!

The Spartan Super Series kicked off on October 21, and after a week-long run, culminated on October 27, which happened to coincide with Diwali. The grandest event on the SSS schedule – The Millionaire – saw not one but two players becoming Millionaires. The flagship tournament of Spartan Poker logged in 1,275 entries this time, once again obliterating the guarantee by collecting a massive ₹1.27 Crores in the prize pool. Championing the event was one of our former Young Guns, Anujkumar ‘aatmaan108’ Kodam, who added a very impressive ₹22.75 Lakhs to his bankroll. Bengaluru-based Kodam has several live scores from the Asian circuit and the WSOPE to his name. Still, his biggest achievement to-date is ‘TheMoneyMaker’ champion tag that he added to his name in October 2017, when he beat a record field of 1,200 entries to win ₹30.47 Lakhs. While this remains to-date Kodam’s biggest career score live and online, he has innumerable other deep finishes under his belt – one of the more prominent of them being the PPL Autumn’18 The Summit Monster Stack ₹20 Lakhs GTD that he won last year for ₹6.32 Lakhs.

Runner-up finisher Vikaash ‘viks82’ Shah too bagged an equally impressive ₹13.32 Lakhs to become a Millionaire!

While this was quite a feat for Kodam to achieve, the road to claiming the title was not an easy one. The final table was loaded with experienced players, including three past Millionaire winners, Shashwat ‘Shash26’ Agarwal, Eka ‘gettingthere’ Vedantham, and Nitish ‘buttonclicking’ Gupta. Agarwal was one of the early Millionaire winners, while Vedantham and Gupta had both final tabled The Millionaire X5 – ₹1 Million to Top 5 on October 6, that awarded both of them with ₹11.40 Lakhs each. In the hunt for an unprecedented second Millionaire title, all three fought hard. Still, eventually, Agarwal finished fourth for ₹6.98 Lakhs, Vedantham placed sixth for ₹4 Lakhs, while Gupta collected ₹3.05 Lakhs for finishing seventh.

Other notable players who also final tabled The Millionaire included rising talent Neel ‘Worm33’ Joshi (5th for ₹5.39 Lakhs) and online regular Anurag ‘Norman Bates’ Srivastava (8th for ₹2.17 Lakhs).

This isn’t the last we’ll be hearing of The Millionaire this year. The marquee series is poised to make a roaring comeback with a bigger and better avatar in the form of ‘The Millionaire Legends’ that features a prize pool of ₹2 Crores and is slated to run from November 8 to 10.

Over at the other Sunday major on Spartan Poker, the Sunday SuperStack ₹25 Lakhs GTD, B.‘PavankiranB’ Kiran championed over the 516-strong field to snag the winner’s cheque worth ₹4.11 Lakhs. Chirag ‘chilling’ Sodha (SSS #41 Electric Big Daddy ₹6 Lakhs GTD for ₹1.22 Lakhs) and Pranay ‘MajhiSatakli’ Chawla (Ultimate PLO ₹2 Lakhs GTD for ₹60,000) also won titles.

With Spartan drawing all the attention, unsurprisingly, it turned out to be an overlay storm at PokerBaazi’s Sunday tournaments with all the four featured events failing to gather enough numbers to meet their advertised guarantee. Headlining the action was the Baazi Super Sunday (BSS) SuperStack ₹25 Lakhs GTD that registered a sizeable overlay of ₹2.35 Lakhs on the virtue of 453 entries (260 unique and 193 re-entries). The event did have an enthralling finale, with three big names, Rubin ‘kornkid’ Labroo, PokerGuru Ambassador Gokul ‘Nygma’ Raj, and India`s WSOP star Abhinav ‘griezmann’ Iyer jostling for the top prize. While Iyer fell in third place, Labroo emerged the eventual champion after defeating Raj heads-up. He added a hefty ₹5.02 Lakhs for his title win.

Vikranth ‘borntrouble’ Varma (BSS MegaStack for ₹1.28 Lakhs), Sonia ‘VasooliChacha’ Jain (The Monster 6-Max ₹5 Lakhs GTD for ₹1.24 Lakhs) and Gautam ‘M8a7’ Rohilla (BSS PLO ₹2 Lakhs GTD for ₹53,600) were the other big winners on PokerBaazi.

We have written extensively about Adda52’s overlay woes, and the tragedy seems to have continued on the poker portal over the weekend. The site’s Sunday majors, Mega Suits ₹25 Lakhs GTD and Big Slick ₹15 Lakhs GTD, both clocked in massive overlays of ₹3.65 Lakhs and ₹4.86 Lakhs, respectively.

PokerGuru Ambassador Ashish ‘ragspoker’ Munot‘s star is on the rise. After winning the WPT India Main Event and shipping PokerBaazi’s The Endeavour ₹15 Lakhs GTD – both earlier this month – he was yet again in the thick of the action last night as he juggernaut his way to the top of the field in the Mega Suits, pocketing ₹6.20 Lakhs in the process.

Meanwhile, it was a very bright Diwali for Prateek ‘ishuv’ Pandey, who came out on top in the Big Slick for ₹2.81 Lakhs, after besting Young Gun Ujjwal ‘Fourteenk’ Narwal (runner-up for ₹2.06 Lakhs) heads-up.

The story over at PokerStars India was similar to PokerBaazi and Adda52, with all the signature Sunday MTT’s posting overlays. ‘GutshotHaiBro’ topped the field in the Sunday Special Progressive KO ₹15 Lakhs GTD and netted ₹2.64 Lakhs in first-place prize money.

Sunday Special (L) ₹5 Lakhs GTD became the battleground for Team PokerGuru as the two Ambassadors Devvrat ‘bhasm@sur1’ Arya and Vishal ‘Vishalb22’ Bajaj crossed swords over the title and top prize. The duo eventually agreed to a heads-up deal before Arya captured the title for ₹83,267 and Bajaj finished runner-up for ₹84,501. PokerStars India Team pro Aditya Agarwal, who happens to be their mentor, also final tabled the event, placing sixth for ₹21,279.

The other events on the PokerStars India roster were won by Ayush ‘(Giz^zY)91’ Khandelwal (Sunday PLO ₹1.5 Lakhs GTD for ₹39,733) and Armaan ‘armaan007111’ Kochhar (Sunday Warm-Up ₹1.5 Lakhs GTD for ₹31,249).

Despite being a rather slow Sunday for PokerStars India, action will certainly be picking up steam primarily due to the site’s new offering – the Diwali Rush Series that commences today and will run till November 3. Comprising of 48 events, the series boasts of ₹2.06 Crores in prize pool guarantees. The featured mainstay of the series will be the ₹7,700 buy-in Progressive Knock Out Main Event, which offers a ₹50 Lakhs guarantee!

Over at Poker Dangal, the Sunday Bonanza ₹1 Lakh GTD attracted 103 entries (70 unique and 33 rebuys) and found a winner in Ajay ‘ajayrr47’ Kumar Maddeshia who won ₹28,150.

It was an action-packed Sunday on Spartan Poker with both Day 1C and Day 2 of the site’s biggest event on its SSS schedule – The Millionaire ₹1 Crore GTD opening to action. The tournament registered a 1,275-strong field (Day 1A – 446, Day 1B – 338 and Day 1C – 491) across three starting flights and only 147 of them (Day 1A – 65, Day 1B, 48 and Day 1C – 71) could qualify to Day 2. The tournament had implemented the ‘best stack forward’ format, allowing players to be eligible through multiple flights.

Rising to prominence to become the 32nd Millionaire champion was Anujkumaraatmaan108Kodam, who defeated Vikaash ‘viks82’ Shah heads-up to win ₹22.75 Lakhs. A consolation prize of ₹13.32 Lakhs wasn’t bad for Shah, either who also posted a 159th place score to earn an additional ₹18,487.

It was a star-studded final table which had not one but three past Millionaire champions, namely Shashwat ‘Shash26’ Agarwal (4th for ₹6.98 Lakhs), Eka ‘gettingthere’ Vedantham (6th for ₹4 Lakhs, 147th for ₹18,487) and Nitish ‘buttonclicking’ Gupta (7th for ₹3.05 Lakhs). Agarwal had donned the Millionaire crown in one of the earlier editions, while Vedantham and Gupta had both finished in the top five in the recently concluded The Millionaire X5 – ₹1 Million to Top 5. In fact, we had missed mentioning that ‘buttonclicking’ was indeed Gupta in our previous report. Gupta, who is our first-ever Young Gun, was last seen in the IPC ₹100K High Roller, where he finished runner-up for ₹35.24 Lakhs. He even famously took down PokerBaazi’s PPL Winter ’18 The MoneyMaker ₹1 Crores GTD in December last year for ₹32.63 Lakhs. Additionally, consistent winners Neel ‘Worm33’ Joshi (5th for ₹5.39 Lakhs) and Anurag ‘Norman Bates’ Srivastava (8th for ₹2.17 Lakhs), also final tabled the event.
