The second edition of the Deltin Poker Tournament Xpress (DPTX) Sikkim has been a resounding success despite some of the more established names in the domestic circuit flying off to Ho Chi Minh City to participate in the World Poker Tour (WPT) Vietnam. Nestled between the picturesque Himalayas, the Casino Deltin Denzong hosted the series which mainly attracted low to mid stakes players with its low-ranging and affordable buy-ins. The first three events in the four-event series crowned winners in Ankit Jajodia (₹15K Main Event for ₹3.25 Lakhs), Debashis Bal (₹5K Burn N Turn Event for ₹1.60 Lakhs) and Sandip Jhawar (₹10K Bounty for ₹85,000), and the only event left to declare a champion was the ₹10K Tag Team event.
The last event of the 2019 DPTX took less than 12 hours to wrap up. Last year, Team Gurgaon Blasters comprising of Prashant Malik and Deepak Raina had shipped the Tag Team event for ₹60,000. The 2019 event was taken down by Aayush Aggarwal and Rishab Dalmia (cover image) who banked ₹81,300 for their victory.
A total of 17 teams registered for the event by the time late registration was closed at the end of level nine. Aggarwal and Dalmia eliminated the teams of Rishav Gupta and Sandip Jhawar, Pawan Jaiswal and Anish Kumar and eventual runner-ups Rajat Singh and Amit Gaikwad to bag the title and trophy. While Aggarwal is relatively lesser known in the community, Dalmia was among the top performers at last year’s Tag Team event. He had partnered with Manish Lakhotia, Team Shiva Squad – and had finished runner-up for ₹30,000.
Following the elimination of team Manjeet Jajoo and Anant Purohit, the nine-team final table was formed.
