The 2019 partypoker LIVE MILLIONS Europe kicked off on August 5 at Europe’s most popular Casino, the King’s Casino in Rozvadov and since then the series has crowned several well-known players as champions including Orpen Kisacikoglu (€100,000 Super High Roller for €1,040,000), Antanas Guoga aka Tony G (€25,000 Triton Short Deck for €237,250) and Michael Chi Zhang (€25,500 Super High Roller for €350,000).

The biggest event of the series, the €10,300 Main Event, commenced on August 14, registering 504 entries through two starting flights. After five days of intense poker action, Czech Republic’s Lukas Zaskodny (cover image) emerged as the ultimate champion after a heads-up chop with fellow compatriot and eventual runner-up Josef Snejberg. Zaskodny not only claimed his career-first partypoker LIVE title at the event but also banked the most significant live cash of his career worth €906,770!

Commenting on the final table action in the post-event interview, Zaskodny said, “We were playing for a lot of money, and the pay jumps were quite huge. Even though the table is quite shallow, I understand that nobody wants to be eliminated.”

Talking about his heads-up opponent, Snejberg, whom he is good friends with, Zaskodny said, “One month ago we had a ground-breaking with my garden. And we were talking and saying that we’ve never played heads-up together, even though we’ve played together many years. So, one month after that, we got heads up.”

The top 72 places were assured payouts and several notable names finished in the money including partypoker Team pro Dzmitry Urbanovich (10th for €60,000), Christian Rudolph (31st for €30,000), Jack Sinclair (43rd for €25,000), partypoker Team pro Bertrand Grospellier (53rd for €20,000), Dara O’Kearney (61st for €20,000), and Patrick Mahoney (68th for €20,000).

Jozsef Liszkovic bubbled the final table finishing 9th for €80,000.

Final Table Recap

Short-stacked Rastislav Paleta was the first player to be eliminated from the eight-handed final table when his were overpowered by final table chip leader Charlie Carrel’s . The board bricked and Paleta was knocked out in eighth place.

In a shocking turn of events, the start-of-the-day chip leader Charlie Carrel was busted next in seventh place. He lost all his chips to Josef Snejberg in two crucial hands. Snejberg first took a stab at Carrel’s stack towards the end of level 29 by doubling up through him. The UK-based pro’s run soon came to an end when his were bested by Snejberg’s . The runout offered no help to Carrel who was sent packing to the rail.

A little less than an hour later, partypoker Team pro Roberto Romanello‘s failed to hold on against Romain Lewis’ which hit a Broadway straight on the board , dismissing Romanello in sixth place.

Down to five-handed play, Sam Grafton pitted his against Lukas Zaskodny’s . The board ran [5], and Zaskodny flopped a set of sevens, ending Grafton’s run in fifth place.

Austria’s Severin Schleser was the next player to be eliminated. His were cracked by Zaskodny’s which bettered to two pairs of queens and fours on the board . Schleser exited in fourth place.

Less than five minutes later, Romain Lewis followed Schleser to the rail in third place. Lewis’ ran into Snejberg’s . The latter found an ace on the flop, which brought about Lewis’ elimination.

The heads-up play commenced with Lukas Zaskodny (312,000,000) enjoying a commanding lead over fellow countryman Josef Snejberg (192,000,000). Both players agreed to a deal, and Zaskodny locked in €806,770, while Snejberg was set to receive €718,230. With the title and €100,000 in prize money left to play for, the final showdown continued for nearly an hour.

On the final hand, Zaskodny moved all-in for 396,00,000 with and Snejberg called with his last 98,000,000, holding . The community cards missed both players. Zaskodny’s pocket tens held on, bringing the champion his first-ever partypoker LIVE title, along with a career-best score of €906,770!
