Undoubtedly the largest poker tournament down under, the Aussie Millions kicked off 2017 at the Crown Melbourne on Jan 11 and will last until the end of the month with 26 events on its schedule.
Already three new winners have been found with Robert Raymond at Event #1 for AUD$320,830, James Chen in Event #2 for AUD$39,700 and Thomas Muhlocker in Event #3 for AUD$40,125.
The opening AUD$1,025 NLH event had four entry flights and drew a record volume of 1,565 players, more than the 1,320 entries registered last year at the same event.
Defeating them all was Melbourne local player Robert Raymond, who won the event for AUD$320,830.
The final day began with the last 16 players and soon reached the official final table of six. Raymond was mostly under the radar, until four-handed play, where he and Qiang Fu’s were the shorter two stacks. Both lasted till heads up and finally Raymond overcame Fu to claim the title.
In all, 153 top finishers cashed from the prize pool of AUD$1,604,125.

Event 2: $2,500 H.O.R.S.E.
The first event to grant the winner the ANTON ring, the AUD$2,250 buy-in H.O.R.S.E. was claimed by Taiwan`s James Chen for AUD$39,700, after defeating 49 entries. Australia’s Rainer Quel made a second place finish for AUD$25,355.

Event 3: No Limit Hold’em – Shot Clock Shootout
Austrian Thomas Muhlocker was the winner of Event #3 banking the top prize of AUD$40,125. The event had a fast and exciting shootout format with a shot clock to keep the pace high. 153 runners took to 17 tables paying up the buy-in of AUD$1,025. Henry Szmelcer made a runner-up finish for AUD$26,775.
