Sunday Online Railbird Report: Sreekanth Narayan Becomes the 1st December Millionaire!

What an explosive start we have had for the last month of 2019! All the leading online poker sites came out all guns blazing last night, offering lip-smacking guarantees to their loyal player pools. While some events were successful in drawing out the big crowds, others fell short.

Nevertheless, it was Spartan Poker’s latest Millionaire edition – The Millionaire Lite ₹50 Lakhs GTD – that had everyone’s attention. The event locked in a record-breaking 3,262 entries (Day 1A – 994, Day 1B – 859, Day 1C – 1,409). The site’s ambitious plans with a reduced buy-in worked as the turnout far exceeded that of its recent predecessors – The Millionaire X5 Edition ₹10 Lakhs GTD To Top 5 Players (1,433 entries), SSS The Millionaire ₹1.5 Crores GTD (1,588 entries) and The Millionaire Legends ₹2 Crores GTD (857 entries). Despite the colossal field size, the event fell a little over ₹1 Lakh short of the advertised guarantee. Day 2 kicked off at 9 PM on December 1 and following nearly six hours of rigorous play, MTT specialist Sreekanth ‘n0thing’ Narayan was declared the 40th Millionaire on the site. It wasn’t easy pickings for Narayan who had to not only traverse a field of 292 players returning for Day 2 but also had to get past seasoned pro Vivek ‘Pokerbatman27’ Rughani in the heads-up play. Though it was a hard-fought battle, in the end, it was Narayan who clinched the title, along with the massive ₹11.12 Lakhs up top! Rughani also collected an impressive ₹6 Lakhs for his second-place finish.

Not done yet, Narayan picked up two more scores last night in PokerStars India’s Sunday Special Progressive KO ₹20 Lakhs GTD (29th for ₹11,923) and Sunday Special (L) ₹10 Lakhs GTD (24th for ₹10,185). Narayan, who is a frequently mentioned name in our Daily Majors and Sunday Online Railbird Report features, was in the news in June this year when he took down the first-ever Big Slick ₹20 Lakhs GTD for ₹3.52 Lakhs. He popped up in the headlines in October as well after winning PokerBaazi’s BSS SuperStack ₹25 Lakhs GTD for ₹5.11 Lakhs.

Moving over to the other Sunday flagship on Spartan Poker, the Sunday SuperStack ₹35 Lakhs GTD, a field of 731 entries (330 unique, 168 re-entries and 233 rebuys) ensured that the advertised guarantee was well overshot with ₹36.55 Lakhs in the prize pool. Young Gun and PokerGuru Ambassador Laksh Pal ‘LuckyBhai$’ Singh, who has recently returned from WPT Cambodia with a runner-up finish in the $1,100 Main Event Warm Up, rose to prominence and won the event for ₹7.05 Lakhs. Incidentally, this is the second time that Singh has won this event. Back in March, he had topped a 491-strong field in this same event to win ₹6.50 Lakhs.

That’s not all. Singh went on to cash in four more events last night, namely Spartan Poker’s The Millionaire Lite ₹50 Lakhs GTD (225th for ₹5,500), PokerBaazi’s BSS SuperStack ₹25 Lakhs GTD (49th for ₹12,255), PokerStars India’s Sunday Special Progressive KO ₹20 Lakhs GTD (15th for ₹26,051) and Sunday Special (L) ₹10 Lakhs GTD (31st for ₹8,556).

Another known name taking down a major title was Chirag ‘chilling’ Sodha. Sodha sailed past a tough field of 430 entries (238 unique, 60 re-entries, and 132 rebuys) in the Electric Big Daddy ₹6 Lakhs GTD to win ₹1.13 Lakhs. Continuing his blistering form, Sodha also final tabled the Ultimate PLO ₹2 Lakhs GTD and made a strong bid for another title. He, however, fell a place short and eventually finished runner-up for ₹42,000. Capturing the title and the top prize of ₹58,300 in the event was ‘Krr123’. In addition to these deep runs, Sodha also scored twice at The Millionaire Lite (85th for ₹8,500, 127th for ₹7,000).

PokerBaazi’s Sunday mainstay tournament – Baazi Super Sunday (BSS) SuperStack ₹25 Lakhs GTD – was another crowd-puller last night. The event clocked in 570 entries (320 unique and 250 re-entries), generating a prize pool of ₹28.50 Lakhs. Experienced online player Honey ‘ho9ey’ Bijlani championed over the massive field and added a hefty ₹5.38 Lakhs to his bankroll.

It was indeed a Sunday night to remember for Team PokerGuru as the Team Ambassadors scored in almost every big guarantee event on offer yesterday!

PokerGuru Ambassador Nadeem ‘SpadeHunter’ Basha was among the big winners on the PokerBaazi felts yesterday as he took down the BSS MegaStack ₹5 Lakhs GTD for a cool ₹1.24 lakhs. His fellow Team Ambassador Faiz ‘AliaGaya’ Alam came extremely close to shipping the BSS PLO ₹2 Lakhs GTD, but ultimately finished runner-up for ₹39,420, while ‘maniyak177’ captured the top honors for ₹56,300.

Carrying on the trend, PokerGuru Ambassador Vivek ‘Mystic Peaks’ Singh took advantage of ₹3.55 Lakhs overlay posted in PokerStars India’s Sunday Special Progressive KO ₹20 Lakhs GTD, and topped the event for a top prize of ₹3.82 Lakhs. Singh also posted scores in Spartan Poker’s The Millionaire Lite ₹50 Lakhs GTD (34th for ₹14,000, 262nd for ₹5,000), as well as in PokerBaazi’s BSS SuperStack ₹25 Lakhs GTD (30th for ₹16,530) and BSS MegaStack ₹5 Lakhs GTD (7th for ₹20,700).

PokerGuru Ambassador Kartik ‘TheInternetKid’ Ved also performed brilliantly last night, and even though he did not win a title, he finished runner-up in two marquee events. PokerStars India’s Sunday Special (L) ₹10 Lakhs GTD crowned a champion in ‘Kabadi7’ for ₹1.92 Lakhs, where Ved finished runner-up for ₹1.42 Lakhs. Ved also came second in Adda52’s Big Slick ₹15 Lakhs GTD for ₹2.31 Lakhs, losing out to Sahil ‘ImHighIshove’ Mahboobani who pocketed ₹2.36 Lakhs for his win. Ved went on to post deep runs in Spartan Poker’s Sunday SuperStack ₹35 Lakhs GTD (31st for ₹21,199) and PokerBaazi’s BSS SuperStack ₹25 Lakhs GTD (27th for ₹19,095) as well.

Meanwhile, ‘pm2404’ won the Sunday Warm-Up ₹2 Lakhs GTD on PokerStars India for ₹35,429, following a heads-up chop with ‘sneakysani’ (runner-up for ₹35,429).

The Mega Suits ₹25 Lakhs GTD was the signature event on Adda52 last night. The tournament did exceedingly well to collect ₹29 Lakhs in the prize pool via 580 entries (322 unique and 258 re-entries). ‘supernuts’ came out on top to win ₹6.81 Lakhs.

The Sunday staple tourney at 9stacks, The Joker ₹15 Lakhs GTD, was among the majors that got walloped last night. The tournament pulled in 265 entries (218 unique and 47 re-buys), falling almost ₹1.75 Lakhs short of the advertised guarantee. Tournament regular Raj Kumar ‘Fireman’ Gahlot took down the event for ₹3.67 Lakhs.

Fast-growing online poker site Khelo365 hosted two events yesterday that found winners in ‘Fiyaz’ (Big Bang ₹1 Lakh GTD for ₹46,000) and ‘ravi1204’ (Deep Stack ₹60K GTD for ₹25,800).

Last but certainly not the least, Poker Dangal’s Sunday Bonanza ₹1 Lakh GTD was taken down by Saksham ‘Razorfish’ Sharma for ₹24,000.

Daily Majors: Hitesh Batra, Vinay B, Sumit Saurav & Shivaraj Hwdi Shipped the Monday Majors

As we had predicted yesterday, the action on PokerStars India picked up considerably with the onset of the Diwali Rush series. All three majors hosted by them last night successfully eclipsed their advertised guarantees. The showstopper event, DIWALI RUSH-03: Monday Hustle ₹10 Lakhs GTD, saw ‘Tems30’ topping a field of 265 entries (148 unique and 117 re-entries) which included defeating PokerGuru Ambassador Mithun ‘ThePokeRajaIN’ Mahesh (runner-up for ₹1.50 Lakhs) heads-up to win the ₹2.03 Lakhs first-place cash prize.

Meanwhile, ‘CantBelieveIwon’ (DIWALI RUSH-05: Zoom 3-Max Progressive KO ₹2.5 Lakhs GTD for ₹58,709) and ‘vishal352’ (DIWALI RUSH-01: Warm -Up ₹2 Lakhs GTD for ₹38,754) took down the other majors on the platform last night.

Similar to Spartan Poker’s Spartan Super Series (SSS) last week, with all the attention now diverted towards PokerStars India because of the ongoing Diwali Rush series, the major’s on other sites suffered overlays. On PokerBaazi, the site’s Monday Majors – The Bout ₹10 Lakhs GTD and Monday MegaStack ₹3 Lakhs GTD – did perform relatively better than their previous week’s run. The Bout garnered 239 entries (124 unique and 115 re-entries) for an overlay of ₹44,000, almost half that of last Monday when the event had to fill in a ₹80,000 shortfall. ‘Chennaino1’ emerged the champion this week and took home a payday of ₹2.35 Lakhs. Over at the Monday MegaStack ₹3 Lakhs GTD, a 131-entry field (73 unique and 58 re-entries) led to a shortfall of 38,000. ‘Vishzz’ was the last man standing and won ₹80,400.

Spartan Poker was back to the humdrum of its daily regulars. Daily Majors: Alok Birewar, Vinayak Bajaj, Naren Purohit & Rajesh Shukla Top the Monday Majors

After a fire-cracking Sunday, it was a relatively slow Monday on the virtual felts last night that saw most majors struggling to meet their advertised guarantees.

With the PokerBaazi Premier League is now done and dusted, at least for the time being, the site’s flagship Monday tournament, The Bout ₹10 Lakhs GTD, registered a slight overlay of ₹44,000 through 239 entries (131 unique and 108 re-entries). Well-known poker pro Alok ‘TheProfessional’ Birewar decimated the field to clinch the title along with the top prize worth ₹2.35 Lakhs. The other high-value event on PokerBaazi last night was the Monday MegaStack ₹3 Lakhs GTD which too failed to meet its stated guarantee by ₹54,000. Anonymous player ‘Shiv04’ shipped the event, netting a payday of ₹80,400.

Adda52’s Goa Fest ₹8 Lakhs GTD managed to scrape in 166 entries (97 unique entries and 69 re-entries), resulting in a significant ₹2 Lakhs shortfall yesterday. ‘xoredvoid,’ a regular player on the site, took down the event, bagging a winner’s payday of ₹2.16 Lakhs. Meanwhile, another site regular, Naren ‘IMUNAGI’ Purohit, claimed the Hexagram ₹2.5 Lakhs GTD title for ₹73,009. The Hexagram, unlike the Goa Fest, collected a prize pool of ₹2.58 Lakhs via 142 entries (81 unique and 61 re-entries).

Spartan Poker’s ReCharge ₹12 Lakhs GTD was one of the few tournaments hosted last night that smashed its offered guarantee. Registering a massive field of 614 entries (271 unique, 119 re-entries and 223 rebuys), the ReCharge generated a prize pool of ₹12.28 Lakhs. Vinayak ‘tuktuki’ Bajaj championed the event, banking ₹1.99 Lakhs in first-place prize money. Incidentally, Bajaj will be making his way to the coastal state of Goa next week to participate in the final table of PPL #46: The MoneyMaker ₹1 Crore GTD with the second largest stack of 3,352,521.

PokerStars India conducted two big guaranteed events last night – the Monday Hustle ₹6 Lakhs GTD and Zoom 3-Max Progressive KO ₹2 Lakhs GTD. While the Monday Hustle logged in a very marginal overlay of about ₹2,700, the Zoom 3-Max PKO just about met its guarantee with the regular prize pool accumulating ₹1,00,250 and the bounty prize pool reaching ₹99,750. ‘rdx1111’ came out on top to win the Monday Hustle for ₹98,871 after a heads-up chop with Utsav ‘rannyOO6’ Taneja (runner-up for ₹1.09 Lakhs). The Zoom 3-Max PKO crowned a winner in Rajesh ‘MCallingStation’ Shukla who took home ₹44,954 for his hard work.
