Daily Majors: Yohan Patel, Kalpesh Mehta, Divyank Prasoon & Sreeharsha Boneni Bink the Tuesday Flagships

Like the day before, the virtual felts witnessed another lull day, and barring PokerBaazi`s The Endeavour, most other Tuesday marquees registered overlays.

A former IOPC champion, Yohan Patel, ended a long-ish dry spell by taking down Adda52’s The Mint for ₹3.50 Lakhs, walking away as the day’s biggest winner.

The former IMPS Main Event champion Kalpesh Mehta won Spartan Poker’s Mega Stack (Millionaire Bubble) for ₹3.41 Lakhs! Anish Arora came second for ₹2.27 Lakhs. The former Money Heist champion, Arora, made a lot of noise in the Spartan Poker marquees yesterday as he also came second in The Race, collectively adding ₹2.70 Lakhs.

Divyank Prasoon was another player grabbing the headlines after a long gap. The two-time The Millionaire finalist won PokerBaazi’s The Endeavour for ₹2.64 Lakhs, following a heads-up deal with ‘shay88’ (2nd for ₹2.42 Lakhs).

Sreeharsha Boneni ran hot yesterday, netting ₹1.50 Lakhs across six ITM finishes. He most prominently shipped Adda52’s Voyager for ₹68,039.

Sunday Online Railbird Report: Gokul Raj Champions the Millionaire; Varma, Bhargava, Labroo, Sapra & Singh Wins the Other Majors

Sundays are always massive, but last night was spectacular. While Dhaval Mudgal and Akshay Nasa kept the ball rolling for Team India on the final day of APT Vietnam with both logging in final table scores, the online action was just as exciting.

Spartan Poker’s second Millionaire offering of the month – SSS The Millionaire ₹1.5 Crores GTD had a blockbuster finale with Day 2 playing down to a winner. With 1,588 entries (Day 1A – 490, Day 1B – 442 and Day 1C – 656) generating a ₹1.58 Crores prize pool, the event turned out to be a resounding success. And at the end of it all, the star of the tournament was none other than PokerGuru Ambassador Gokul ‘Super Kings’ Raj!

We have to say, Team PokerGuru has done exceedingly well both live and online these past few months. On Sunday, Chennai-based Raj added another major victory to the team’s tally by coming out of the top of a star-studded field to become the latest Millionaire champion! While Raj has several notable live scores under his belt, his litany of online accomplishments is much more impressive. Back in January, Raj had championed Spartan Poker’s IOPC #36 Super High Roller ₹70 Lakhs GTD for a personal-best ₹28.11 Lakhs. There have been several prominent scores by Raj since then, including a runner-up finish in the PokerStars India Diwali Rush-24 Highroller SE ₹25 Lakhs GTD earlier this month. This time Raj outran a star-studded field to capture the top prize of ₹27.45 Lakhs – his second-largest recorded score online!

Raj was not the only one who went to sleep a Million bucks richer in the wee hours of Monday morning. The Millionaire awarded seven-figure payouts to two more players – ‘JhingaLala’ (runner-up for ₹15.38 Lakhs), Divyank ‘mikkudiv’ Prasoon (3rd for ₹10.78 Lakhs)! With this, the 42-event SSS November edition is now in the rear-view mirror. There is, however, the Millionaire X5 Edition that will be coming up next for a three-day run starting November 22.

The other big Sunday winner on Spartan was Vikranth ‘borntrouble’ Varma, who outlasted a 770-strong field to capture the SSS #40 Sunday SuperStack ₹30 Lakhs GTD. Varma is another player in winning form as only last week he had chopped the 33rd Millionaire Legends ₹2 Crores GTD with Anish Patra for ₹40.32 Lakhs. This time Varma did one better and defeated the mighty Dhaval ‘MandirYahinBanayenge’ Mudgal to win the title and the ₹7.43 Lakhs up top. That`s not all, as Varma also finished 18th in the PokerBaazi BSS SuperStack for ₹28,373.

As for Mudgal, we have written so much about him these last few weeks that it`s hardly any surprise seeing his name pop up again. It was frankly an extremely eventful Sunday for this rockstar turned poker pro. He was playing for life-changing money on the final table of the APT Vietnam Championships event, where he placed third for ₹22.62 Lakhs. Not one to pass on a massive Sunday, Mudgal put in a decent schedule on the virtual felts later in the evening. While the title eluded him both online and live, the efforts were rewarded. He added ₹4.68 Lakhs to his bankroll from a runner-up finish to Varma in the Sunday SuperStack.

mehhhhh’ (SSS #41 Electric Big Daddy ₹6 Lakhs GTD for ₹1.05 Lakhs), PokerGuru Ambassador Mithun ‘intuitionnn‘ Mahesh (SSS #38 Afternoon Showdown ₹4 Lakhs for ₹1 Lakh) and ‘pokerfish87’ (Ultimate PLO ₹2 Lakhs GTD for ₹62,964) were the other prominent winners on Spartan Poker.

Also making its weekly run was Adda52’s Mega Suits’ ₹25 Lakhs GTD that mustered 312 unique and 256 re-entries to generate a ₹28.40 Lakhs prize pool. ‘abhiom’ took down the event to win ₹6.67 Lakhs. Rubin ‘kornkid’ Labroo (Big Slick for ₹2.70 Lakhs) and Siddharth ‘Gabandheer’ Pandey (Hexagram for ₹63,946) were the other big winners on the site.

It was an eventful Sunday on PokerBaazi as well, with both the signature events on the site pulling in massive numbers. The BSS SuperStack ₹15 Lakhs GTD smashed its guarantee to accrue ₹29.25 Lakhs over a 585-strong field (334 unique and 251 re-entries). Capturing the title and top prize of ₹5.52 Lakhs was Ajitesh ‘bazzinga29’ Bhargava. The Monster ₹5 Lakhs GTD crowned a champion in Yuvraj ‘ThePredator’ Singh, who won ₹1.25 Lakhs for his efforts.

Over at PokerStars India, the Sunday Special Progressive KO ₹20 Lakhs GTD attracted 364 players (195 unique and 169 re-entries), and it was an unknown player ‘nachughodi’ who pocketed the winning sum of ₹4.05 Lakhs. Sumit ‘mrgr33n33’ Sapra (PokerStars Sunday Special ₹10 Lakhs GTD for ₹1.90 Lakhs) and ‘SaigonBomber’ (Sunday Warm-Up ₹2 Lakhs GTD for ₹40,402) also won titles.

Also returning to the virtual felts was The Joker ₹15 Lakhs GTD on 9stacks. With a below-par 243 entries (203 unique, 55 re-entries, and 40 rebuys), there was a sizeable ₹2.85 Lakhs shortfall that the site had to fill in. Profiting the most from the considerable value doled out was ‘bounty’ who won the event for ₹3.67 Lakhs.

Meanwhile, Khelo365’s Mega Splash ₹1 Lakh GTD attracted 51 hopefuls (41 unique and 10 rebuys), making for a ₹1.02 Lakhs prize pool. ‘Aauss’ came out on top to win ₹40,800.

On Poker Dangal, The Sunday Bonanza ₹1 Lakhs GTD was taken down by Saksham ‘Razorfish’ Sharma for ₹26,800.

This Week in Poker: October 30 – November 5

In the PokerGuru feature ‘This Week in Poker,’ we bring you the weekly roundup of the most significant online scores by Indian MTT players along with the top stories from both the live and online poker circuit.

Here are this week’s top stories

After an action-packed October that was packed to the brim with action both live and online, the first week of November rolled out an array of exciting virtual offerings.

Ruling the virtual felts this week was Aditya Sushant. The super-talented superstar was in beast mode all weeklong, reminding everyone why he is considered among the best in the business. Sushant started out by winning not one or two but four major titles. His exploits saw him winning major tournaments like 9stacks’ Thunder, The Summit on PokerBaazi, and both the 5 for 5 and The Elite on Spartan Poker. As the week wore on, the former WSOP champion was in the running for a fifth title, this time in one of the Diwali Rush events but missed out and placed second. But he soon brought out the perfect ending to his stupendous run. Sushant took down the Diwali Rush Main Event ₹50 Lakhs on Sunday, clinching his best score on the platform worth ₹8.39 Lakhs in prize money. With so many laurels in just under a week, Sushant added a jaw-dropping ₹25.33 Lakhs to his bankroll, making him our “PokerGuru Star of the Week!!”

Apart from Sushant, the other most prominent winner of the week was Divyank ‘mikkudiv’ Prasoon. Prasoon’s claim to fame was taking down the last event of Spartan Poker’s weekly Wednesday major – Destiny 11.0 for ₹7.91 Lakhs. Carrying the momentum forward, Prasoon topped the Destiny 11.0 SnG Finale last Sunday that fetched him a Las Vegas package worth ₹3.70 Lakhs!

There’s no slowdown of action on the virtual felts. The November edition of the 35-event-long Baazi Grinders Series is now well underway on PokerBaazi. If that wasn`t enough, Spartan Poker has brought out a fantastic array of Millionaire offerings for the month. The site has announced an unprecedented three Millionaires lined up between November 8 to 24, promising a jaw-dropping ₹4.5+ Crores in prize pool guarantees. The excitement will begin with Millionaire Legends (Nov 8-10), followed by the SSS Millionaire (Nov 15-17). The Millionaire X5 Edition (Nov 22-24) rounds out the potpourri of Millionaire action this month.

Recapping the live-action, WSOPE was the most prominent live stop this week. After Greece’s Alexandros Kolonias won the €10,350 Main Event for his career-best €1,133,678, we saw the WSOP POY race gaining momentum. The competition went all the way down to the wire with six-time bracelet winner Daniel Negreanu and Shaun Deeb, both running neck-to-neck. There was quite a sweat developing with Deeb making it to the final day of the €550 Colossus. He needed to finish fifth or better to win the POY title, but an 11th place finish saw Negreanu lifting the POY trophy for an unprecedented third time!

There is another trending story currently. We are talking about the International Federation of Match Poker (IFMP) Asian Nation’s Cup that is now underway at Taoyuan, Taiwan. Team India is one of nine teams participating, represented by Aditya ‘Bitti’ Agarwal, Krina Gala, Prateek Mishra, Tanmay Bagga, Tarun Mundkar, and Rishab Jain. The team has done wonders at the contest, topping the leaderboard on the starting two days to secure a berth for the World Championship in Lima, Peru, starting December 2!

With a place in the World Championship secured, the team is presently fighting for the Asian Nation`s Cup with the other three top contenders – Singapore, Australia, and Taiwan.

While the result of the Asian Nation`s Cup will be known today, there is more action coming up is another Asian country – Vietnam. The third edition of APT Vietnam this year was flagged off at the Pro Poker Club yesterday. Team India has once again come out in massive numbers at this popular stop. Some prominent names include Akshay Nasa, PokerGuru Ambassador Laksh Pal Singh, Rubin Labroo, 2018 WPT Vietnam Main Event champion Dhaval Mudgal, Sumit Sapra and Sajal Gupta.

In the other domestic highlights, high-stakes pros Patrik Antonius and David Benyamine are both expected to fly down to Goa next week to attend a cash game festival at the Big Daddy Casino. Meanwhile, Pocket52 has launched its own online poker network called the Pocket52 Network, while the insolvency petition filed by Living Consumer Products Pvt. Ltd. against Play Games24x7 was dismissed.

Dominating the international reports we saw, GVC Holdings, the parent company of partypoker winning the EGR Poker Operator of the Year for the third consecutive year. Around the same time, Mediarex Enterprises, the company behinds brands like The Hendon Mob and Global Poker League announced a collaboration with Chinese Poker Enterprise to launch GPT Asia.

Sunday Online Railbird Report: Aditya Sushant, Raman Gujral, Jasven Saigal, Saurabh Arora & Divyank Prasoon Reign Supreme

It was an epic Sunday on the virtual felts that saw some of the biggest names of the Indian poker industry rule the roost! Headlining the Sunday majors was the pièce de résistance of PokerStars India’s Diwali Rush series, DIWALI RUSH-44: Main Event ₹50 Lakhs GTD. Lasting for nearly 10 hours, the blockbuster tournament pulled in 774 entries (410 unique and 364 re-entries), probably the biggest-ever field recorded on the PokerStars India client since its launch in April 2018! The massive entry field quickly obliterated the offered guarantee, clocking in a prize pool worth ₹54.18 Lakhs. Former WSOP bracelet winner Aditya ‘serendipity789’ Sushant has proved time and again of what a phenomenal MTT specialist he is. In fact, he has been unstoppable these past few weeks. He had finished runner-up in PokerStars India’s DIWALI RUSH-31: Uppercut Progressive KO SE 4-Max ₹12 Lakhs GTD on November 1, shipped 9stacks’ Thunder ₹5 Lakhs GTD on October 31, took down PokerBaazi’s The Summit ₹15 Lakhs GTD on October 17, won Spartan Poker’s 5 For 5 (₹5 Lakhs GTD For Top 5 Player) on September 29 and The Elite ₹25 Lakhs GTD on September 27, to name some of his most recent achievements. He added yet another feather to his cap by taking down the Diwali Rush Main Event last night, adding a colossal ₹8.39 Lakhs to his bankroll!

The other winners on PokerStars India last night were ‘NitCracker’ (DIWALI RUSH-45: The Big Crunch ₹12 Lakhs GTD for ₹2.28 Lakhs), Yash ‘hasyY@$#116’ Shrivastava (DIWALI RUSH-43: Final Day Warm-up ₹5 Lakhs GTD for ₹85,631), ‘momstacos’ (DIWALI RUSH-47: Ultrasonic PKO ₹1.5 Lakhs GTD for ₹48,584) and ‘Underthegun31’ (DIWALI RUSH-46: Storm SE ₹2 Lakhs GTD for ₹21,181).

It was an action-packed day on Spartan Poker as well. Besides the flurry of the regular Sunday MTT’s, the much-awaited Destiny 11.0 Finale SNG finally awarded Vegas packages to the top three finishers. The star-studded line-up of the 10 Destiny 11.0 winners comprised of heavy hitters like Raghav Bansal, Aditya Sushant, PokerGuru Ambassador Ashish Ahuja, Guneet Kwatra and Harshad Barve. The most recent Destiny 11.0 champion Divyank Prasoon continued his splendid form and topped the SNG to win the Vegas package worth ₹3.70 Lakhs, which includes return business class flight tickets to Las Vegas along with 12 nights stay! ‘pokerkaps’ (runner-up for ₹3.30 Lakhs) and Anirudh ‘flash’ Reddy (3rd for ₹3 Lakhs) rounded out the top three finishers.

The Spartan Poker Sunday mainstay – Sunday SuperStack ₹30 Lakhs GTD – saw one of the most experienced players in the circuit, Raman ‘tathagat’ Gujral, champion the 714-entry field (314 unique, 178 re-entries and 222 rebuys). Gujral outmaneuvered another top pro Dhaval ‘MandirYahinBanayenge’ Mudgal (runner-up for ₹4.34 Lakhs) heads-up to clinch the title and top prize of ₹6.89 Lakhs. Mudgal too had an eventful day on the felts as he final tabled PokerBaazi’s BSS MegaStack, finishing fourth for ₹42,516.

Headlining the Team PokerGuru scores was PokerGuru Ambassador Vivek ‘Kasolhieghts’ Singh, who took down the Electric Big Daddy ₹6 Lakhs GTD for ₹1.34 Lakhs. Meanwhile, ‘unruhmilch’ won the Ultimate PLO ₹2 Lakhs GTD for ₹55,666.

Speaking of consistent performances, PokerBaazi Team pro Jasven ‘JasvenSaigal’ Saigal showed everyone who’s the boss as he took down not one but two events on PokerBaazi yesterday. His most significant win of the night came in the site’s flagship Sunday tournament – BSS SuperStack ₹25 Lakhs GTD – where he triumphed over 611 entries (347 unique and 264 re-entries) and walked away with the biggest chunk of the ₹30.55 Lakhs prize pool kitty worth ₹5.77 Lakhs. He added another ₹1.47 Lakhs to his bankroll after shipping The Monster 6-Max ₹5 Lakhs GTD. He also final tabled the BSS PLO, finishing ninth for ₹5,551.

In the other Baazi events, ‘doordarshan’ bested PokerGuru Ambassador Rohit ‘rohit22m’ Mishra (runner-up for ₹89,305) heads-up in the BSS MegaStack ₹5 Lakhs GTD and netted ₹1.27 Lakhs, while Ryan ‘AceFromSpace’ Cardoso topped the BSS PLO ₹2 Lakhs GTD for ₹55,620.

Sunday was kind to Adda52 as well, as the site was able to break away from the overlay curse that has been haunting it for a few months now. The Mega Suits ₹25 Lakhs GTD registered 552 entries (343 unique and 209 re-entries), generating a prize pool of ₹27.60 Lakhs, while the Big Slick ₹15 Lakhs GTD barely managed to surpass its guarantee through 674 entries (464 unique and 210 re-entries). Saurabh ‘newkidintown’ Arora came out on top in the Mega Suits and took home ₹5.07 Lakhs for his win. ‘Ashish_Patel’ topped the Big Slick for ₹2.70 Lakhs. ‘Nit2Donk’ was the last player standing in the Hexagram ₹2.5 Lakhs GTD and won ₹62,647.

9stacks’ Sunday signature event, The Joker ₹15 Lakhs GTD did reasonably well, bringing in 196 entries (166 unique, 69 re-entries and 61 rebuys) that resulted in a marginal ₹20,000 shortfall. Magga ‘Xaro_Xohan_daXos’ Ram ran past the field and locked in ₹3.67 Lakhs. The site ran into a controversy when circuit regular Dhaval Mudgal in a social media post brought to light a technical bug. According to Mudgal, the site is not offering hand-for-hand play on the money bubble in tournaments. No 9stacks executive had responded to the post till the time this feature was posted. PokerGuru had also reached out to the online poker brand and was informed that the company will be issuing a formal statement on this matter soon.

Over at Poker Dangal, the Sunday Bonanza ₹1 Lakhs GTD crowned a champion in ‘raj90341’ who banked ₹28,150 in prize money.
