Indian Poker Association (IPA) has a prominent presence in the City of Joy where it runs a live poker room in collaboration with established operator and poker player Aditya ‘Bitti’ Agarwal. There is always action for poker players at IPA, Kolkata where regular cash games and Texas Hold ‘em and Omaha tournaments are hosted.

The poker room is also frequented by a good number of women players of Kolkata and often hosts tournaments marking important holidays and festivals like Christmas. In December 2017, IPA Kolkata held a special poker session for the students of Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Kolkata.

The Park Street Privilege Club (PPC) is an exclusive, members-only premium club that was launched in 2016 by Sunny Karira and Ankit Doogar. Ever since it started, PPC has fast grown to become one of the favored haunts for the city’s poker fraternity. Located in the social nerve center of Kolkata i.e. Park Street, PPC regularly hosts theme parties, dance nights and social evenings with different themes.

Apart from poker, the club offers facilities for other legally permitted card games like rummy and hosts poker tournaments from time to time in its gaming cum karaoke room.

Full House Poker Room is a well known haunt for poker regulars in Kolkata. Located in Russel Street that is near city’s popular Park Street, Full House has a total of three poker tables and on an average one table is active every day while weekends bring in more crowd and two tables are seen active on Saturdays and Sundays.

Texas and Omaha (4 card pot limit) are the game variants offered. All deal Texas, with back to back Omaha are played.  The stakes range from ₹2.5K to ₹5K. There’s a ₹5,000 Freeze Out Tournament hosted every Sunday at 3 pm.

Full House has a special event coming up on October 2, a ₹10K tournament, ‘Texas’starting at 2.30 pm allowing re-buy till Level 6. This will be followed by a Diwali Special from November 4-7 where winners can take home a silver coin with every pot above ₹20,000.

Located in one of the more affluent areas of Kolkata, Turn N Riva is a well-known watering hole among the poker lovers and enthusiast of the City of Joy. This Minto Park based poker room boosts of a total of six tables, three of which are active on weekdays. With stakes starting from ₹2.5K, ₹5K and ₹10K, the establishment offers Texas and Omaha variants to its patrons, while also hosting tournaments once a month. Keeping its doors open from 2pm to midnight every day, Turn N Riva hosts Special All-night sessions on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

In the poker circle of Kolkata, S-Cube Poker Club is a popular name since June 26, 2017, when the club was first launched by founders Capt. Debapratim Sanyal and his wife, Sananda Sanyal.

The club is part of the Sanyals’ company, S-Cube Games and Hospitality Pvt. Ltd. It has spacious interiors, and there are a total of three poker tables. Usually, one table is active daily while the weekends pull in bigger crowds, and up to two tables are occupied.

The USP of S-Cube lies in the fact that it caters to low stakes players, who can get playing for a buy-in range of ₹1,000, ₹2,000, ₹3,000 and ₹5,000, while first-timers are welcomed with free buy-ins to the games they enter.

We host games featuring modest buy-ins, and the thought behind this is to engage the non player to come and try out poker, and encourage him or her to learn the game. You’ll not find the whos’ who of Kolkata’s poker fraternity in my club, but recreational and newcomers,” explained Capt Sanyal, talking about his poker club.

S-Cube functions on a completely legitimate base and also adheres to a strict and full cash-in and cash-out policy. While the third floor of the establishment hosts the poker hub, along with the pool parlor and a sitting joint, the fourth floor boasts of a Hookah Parlor cum restaurant, called Captain’s Deck. Apart from a good playing environment, the club also offers snacks and non-alcoholic beverages on the house.

S-Cube is open seven days a week, the entire year from 2pm-10pm, while on the weekends, the timings are extended to 11.30pm. No night games are hosted by the club.
