In the poker circle of Kolkata, S-Cube Poker Club is a popular name since June 26, 2017, when the club was first launched by founders Capt. Debapratim Sanyal and his wife, Sananda Sanyal.
The club is part of the Sanyals’ company, S-Cube Games and Hospitality Pvt. Ltd. It has spacious interiors, and there are a total of three poker tables. Usually, one table is active daily while the weekends pull in bigger crowds, and up to two tables are occupied.
The USP of S-Cube lies in the fact that it caters to low stakes players, who can get playing for a buy-in range of ₹1,000, ₹2,000, ₹3,000 and ₹5,000, while first-timers are welcomed with free buy-ins to the games they enter.
“We host games featuring modest buy-ins, and the thought behind this is to engage the non player to come and try out poker, and encourage him or her to learn the game. You’ll not find the whos’ who of Kolkata’s poker fraternity in my club, but recreational and newcomers,” explained Capt Sanyal, talking about his poker club.
S-Cube functions on a completely legitimate base and also adheres to a strict and full cash-in and cash-out policy. While the third floor of the establishment hosts the poker hub, along with the pool parlor and a sitting joint, the fourth floor boasts of a Hookah Parlor cum restaurant, called Captain’s Deck. Apart from a good playing environment, the club also offers snacks and non-alcoholic beverages on the house.
S-Cube is open seven days a week, the entire year from 2pm-10pm, while on the weekends, the timings are extended to 11.30pm. No night games are hosted by the club.
