The showstopper at the inaugural The Indian Poker Series (TIPS) was undoubtedly the Main Event that featured five starting flights. The event collected €95,000 in prize money from a total of 410 entries, which included 328 unique players and 82 re-entries.

The showstopper at the inaugural The Indian Poker Series (TIPS) was undoubtedly the Main Event that featured five starting flights. The event collected €95,000 in prize money from a total of 410 entries, which included 328 unique players and 82 re-entries.

Team India had a sizeable turnout at the event and out of the 24 Indians who made in to the final day, only seven were able to reach the money namely, Hetalkumar Desai (35th for ₹44,599), Varun Gupta (44th for ₹37,047), Manish Goenka (45th for ₹37,047), Anish Patra (47th for ₹37,047), Roshan Romeo Rodrigues (49th for ₹37,047), Ankit Saxena (51st for ₹37,047) and Tanveer Singh Kohli (53rd for ₹37,047).

Outlasting the massive playing field was local pro Martin ‘Simona’ Kabrhel, who claimed the trophy and top prize worth €18,406 (₹14.65 Lakhs). Currently ranked second on the Czech Republic All Time Money List, this win has swelled Kabrhel’s total live earnings over $3.90 Million.

Day 1C, 1D & 1E Recap

Day 1C and 1D played out on Saturday, August 18 with Day 1C drawing 93 runners and Day 1D attracting 97 players.

Devesh Thapar (271,000), Sameer Tavanandi (233,000), Sumit Sapra (201,000) and Vinit Kore (190,500) qualified for Day 2 through Day 1C, while Saumil Krishnani (253,000), Hetalkumar Desai (233,000), Manish Goenka (222,500), Tanveer Singh Kohli (208,500) and Kushal Patel (120,000) bagged a stack on Day 1D.

Following the conclusion of Day 1E on Sunday, a total of 112 hopefuls made the cut for the final day, among which 24 were Indians with Roshan Romeo Rodrigues (347,000) leading Team India ranked ninth in chips coming into Day 2.

Topping the leaderboard with a huge stack of 680,000 was Germany’s Valentino Adler, followed by Dang Toan Nguyen (617,000) and Krzysztof Tomas Bielak (535,000) rounded up the top three stacks.

112 players took to the felts on the final day, but only the top 55 places received payouts. Many players managed to make it in the money including Oliver Mihajlovski (11th for €1,501), Cong Tuan Le (13th for €1,302), Jeremy Bleu (14th for €1,150), Roman Sobek (18th for €941), Peggy Gambetti (25th for €751) and Ronald Van Dam (40th for €466).

Hetalkumar Desai (35th for €561 – ₹44,599) made the best finish among the 7 Indian challengers who finished in the money.

Martin ‘Simona’ Kabrhel (23,154,000) entered the heads-up play with a massive chip lead over Christofor Stefanidi (4,650,000). On the final hand of the event, Stefanidi`s were pitted against Kabrhel’s . The board ran out , and though Stefanidi flopped a pair of fives, it wasn’t enought to beat Kabrhel’s pocket rockets. The Czech pro won the trophy and the top prize of €18,406 (₹14,65,066).
