In the PokerGuru feature ‘This Week in Poker’ we bring to you the weekly round up of the biggest online scores by Indian MTT players along with the top stories from both the live and online poker circuit.

Here are this week`s top stories

Online or live, tournaments or industry news, it’s been a week with significant happenings in poker world both domestic and international.

For many of our players, it’s been a highly charged week, with the advent of the APPT 9 Manila, which began on July 30 and has already crowned six champions. Our Indian challengers have begun the series with a bang and soon Team PokerStars pro Aditya Agarwal along with other notables are expected to join the Indian contingent in Manila.

Dhaval Mudgal seems to be on a high at this APPT, with three cashes and two final table finishes already. After deep runs in the ₱10,000 Warm-up and ₱20,000 Deepstack, Mudgal came within striking distance of the title in Event 6 – ₱5,000 Freezeout. Mudgal took runners-up in the event for ₱138,180. Rohit Bhalla and Kanishka Samant also made the cash for ₱14,700 and ₱8,400 respectively.

The virtual registers have been ringing strong as well this past week. We have several big winners in Karan Radia, Raghav Bansal, indiandurr, Arvindhan L, Arsh Grover and Abhishek Rathod among others. Raghav Bansal is our “PokerGuru Star of the Week” courtesy his third place finish in the PokerStars ‘$162 Sunday 6-Max, $100K GTD’ for $17,259, which is the only five-figure score this week.

In our other weekly news round up, we have several reports from India, with the latest being Adda52 LIVE inaugural series, the Sikkim and Nagaland online gambling bills and a recent update on the Goa casino situation.

In international news, there are reports from the ACOP Platinum Series X, Phil Ivey’s counter suit, the current bwin.party takeover and the WSOP National Championship.

Online Railbird Report

The online action continued unabated at the usual tables on popular sites, as well as promotional offers. The latest has been the “MEGA BONUS” offer at PokerStars, which allows players to earn rich rewards for just a deposit of $25.

The satellites are also on for the IPC Aug edition at SpartanPoker.com, the last chance for those seeking to ride into the IPC August series at Deltin Royale, Goa at a fraction of the cost.

At the online tables, the week has seen several players make great scores, however the one player who outshines the rest is none other than Raghav Bansal. Bansal who recently spoke to us in our heads-up feature, continues his Vegas winning streak and claims the “PokerGuru Star of the Week” title for his five-figure cash of $17,259 after a three way deal. Under the moniker ‘rossoneri23′ he made a third place finish on Sunday, Aug 2 in the PokerStars ‘$162 Sunday 6-Max, $100K GTD’.
