Here are this week`s top stories

Online poker has been all about the ongoing WCOOP this past week. We have already witnessed high-octane action at this years’ biggest online poker extravaganza. But all good things come to an end and so will WCOOP 2017 but not before the whooping $10,000,000 guaranteed $5,200 Main Event takes center stage this Sunday. The high buy-in event will be the grandest online event in the world this year with the crème de la crème of the poker industry expected to be in attendance.

Besides the WCOOP, there have been several other thrilling events online to keep players busy with their plates more than full. 888poker’s XL Eclipse series continues unabated with 100 tournaments getting concluded this past week. Action on domestic sites was no less with the ongoing Poker Millionaire Tour with ₹1 crore guaranteed on Adda52 and the recently concluded Baazi Grinders Series on PokerBaazi.

The week saw a number of familiar names making waves online and topping the cashes list was Sriharsha ‘indiandurr’ Doddapaneni. He takes our “PokerGuru Star of the Week” title for his total cashes of over $26.6K.

Online buffs will surely look forward to the upcoming mega event on PokerBaazi aptly named ‘The MoneyMaker’ (₹1 crore GTD) which is set to debut on October 1.

And, back home, live action was in full swing with the September edition of Deltin Poker Tournament closing out another successful series. There was a visible dent in the turnouts but despite that, the series was a smashing success with all events taken down by veterans of the industry. The headline Main Event was conquered by Kavish Kukreja for ₹18.71 Lakhs. Adda52 pro Amit Jain took down the High Roller event while Bobbe Suri, Vikram Kumar, Minissha Lamba and Jagdeep Singh won the other side events.

Meanwhile, GPL India has started revealing its lineup of team managers and to top it all, signed Nipun Java as it`s brand ambassador.

Numerous developments occurred in Goa, for starters, a law officer confirmed that the law department has approved the rules for regulating casino operations and for the first time, the casinos in the state will shut operations for 24 hours this year on the eve of Gandhi Jayanti.

To wrap this week’s recap, we have tournament reports from the ongoing APT Philippines 2017 II, Poker Masters Series and partypoker LIVE MILLIONS Russia.
