In the PokerGuru feature ‘This Week in Poker’ we bring to you the weekly roundup of the biggest online scores by Indian MTT players along with the top stories from both the live and online poker circuit.

Here are this week`s top stories

The 2017 World Series of Poker (WSOP) continues to dominate all other action with several more surprises that saw rank new comers as well as some notables seize the day, claiming the prestigious bracelet. The events pace will not reduce anytime soon as the gaming-intensity will be heightened as it approaches the highlight event of the series and any poker player’s dream i.e. $10,000 Main Event No-Limit Hold’em Championship.

Several Indian continued to collect cashes all through the week, with none other than Team PokerStars pro Aditya Agarwal being the star performer. Agarwal banked $14,277 for his 24th place finish in Event 45: $5,000 No-Limit Hold’em (30 minute levels). Agarwal now has nine cashes at the series and sits at 13th place on the WSOP 2017 Player of the Year race with 446.58 points. Notably the current standing does not take into account his latest score in Event 52, which should help him, storm into the top 10 list. The pro now has a cracking shot at the title should he keep up his current form.

The new arrival in Las Vegas - Jasven Saigal wasted no time and made it in the money in the ongoing Event 19: The Giant, which concludes on July 9.  Aditya Agarwal too made it in the money on Day 1B and both players will resume Day 2 action on July 8.

Live action further continued in the eastern part of the globe with two big tournaments, the recently concluded APT Macau 2017 and the ACOP Platinum 19 series that took off shortly thereafter. Team India`s trailblazing run continued unabated as after claiming two titles at APT, a few of our challengers stayed back for the ACOP. Zarvan Tumboli shipped his second title this trip after winning Event 4: $3,000 NLH title for HK$50,554 (~INR 4.17 Lakhs). The series also saw a number of deep runs with Manoj Pentakota and Ronak Jatin Vyas making ITM finishes.

Online action wasn`t lacking either and the star performer on the virtual felts was Rahul Steves from the AceJack stable, who shipped the PokerStars Sunday Mini Million for a cool $21,924 and is our “PokerGuru Star of the Week” title!

The week was also filled with numerous other developments both domestic and international. In India, Rummy operators challenged the recently passed ordinance banning online gaming in the state of Telangana while the Eastern part of India played host to the HIFI Tour which saw Abhishek Jalan and Aditya Kumar claiming titles.

In Goa, positive news arrived for the sixth offshore casino vessel i.e. MV Lucky Seven which was finally allowed to dock in the River Mandovi.

In other highlights, online giant PokerStars promoted David Carrion as Director of Marketing and interim Director of Live Events. The company’s CEO also indicated that the PokerStars would be looking to launch in India soon.

To end our weekly recap we bring you tournament reports from PokerStars Festival Marbella and partypoker LIVE Grand Prix UK Event
