In the PokerGuru feature ‘This Week in Poker’ we bring to you the weekly roundup of the biggest online scores by Indian MTT players along with the top stories from both the live and online poker circuit.
Here are this week`s top stories:
Live action dominated most of past week, with online scores also registering an increase. An array of brand tournaments, from the concluding Asian Poker Tour (APT) Kickoff 2017 to the currently underway 2017 Aussie Millions brought forth many more champions.
In the west, the PokerStars Festival London began and India is represented by Team PokerStars pro Aditya Agarwal and PokerHigh pro Arsh Grover. Grover busted on Day 2 of Event #1, while Aditya will be playing the High Roller today.
Looking ahead, players in the country will have the Mahjong Aquarium Poker Championship (MAPC), which starts tomorrow with a whopping INR 1 Crore guarantee. PokerGuru will be covering the entire series live. Besides the above, we have news from Goa, with casinos suffering the brunt of demonetization and monitoring by the EC. On the positive side, Deltin Royale Poker Room was rebranded as Adda52 LIVE.
Internationally, there are tournament reports from the Lucky Hearts Poker Open (LHPO) and the World Series of Poker (WSOP) Circuit Marrakech.
Online action too was fast paced this past week with the PokerStars TCOOP kicking off and Indians immediately claiming two big scores. Anil ‘BigBlufferAY’ Yadav made $30,112.04 for fourth place in the ‘TCOOP-01: $215 NL Hold’em [Turbo, Ultra-Deep, Kickoff], $500,000 Guaranteed’ and claims our “PokerGuru Star of the Week” title. Another big score came from Vinod ‘champitoutx’ Megalmani who made a sixth place finish for approximately $17,000 in the ‘TCOOP $320 Zoom Tournament’.

It was action-time as the 2017 TCOOP kicked off on Jan 18 on PokerStars and Indian players dived into the fray, with many scores made. Among the top numbers the past week was Anil ‘BigBlufferAY’ Yadav who claims our “PokerGuru Star of the Week” with a fourth place for $30,112.04 in the ‘TCOOP-01: $215 NL Hold’em [Turbo, Ultra-Deep, Kickoff], $500,000.

Vinod ‘champitoutx’ Megalmani made the second-largest score of about $17,000 for sixth place in the PokerStars ‘TCOOP $320 Zoom Tournament’.
Other notable scores include:
– Eka ‘Goforitrejam’ Vedantham won $8,070.53 for 1st place in the PokerStars ‘Hot $162, $25K GTD’ and also cashed $3,301.29 for 4th place in the PokerStars ‘TCOOP-22: $215 NL Omaha Hi/Lo [6-Max, Turbo, Progressive KO (50%)], $50,000 Guaranteed’
– Shravan ‘shravanc’ Chhabria won $7,689.86 for 2nd place in the PokerStars ‘$22 Mini Sunday Supersonic [6-Max, Hyper-Turbo], $70K GTD’
– Anmol ‘anmols’ A Srivats won $5,778.64 for 1st place in the PokerStars ‘$22 Mini Fast Friday [Turbo, [#?Zoom#]], $30K Gtd – Guarantee Boost!’
– Sahil ‘$lim$hady19’ Chutani won $2,503.67 for 8th place in the PokerStars ‘$109 Sunday Cooldown [Turbo], $125K GTD – Guarantee Boost!’
– Siddharth ‘sidddhu’ Mundada won $2,298.56 for 11th place in the PokerStars ‘TCOOP-06: $215 NL Hold’em [Turbo, Progressive KO (33%)], $250,000 GTD’
– Raghav ‘Rossoneri23’ Bansal won $1,147.47 for 51st place in the PokerStars ‘TCOOP-23: $215 NL Hold’em [6-Max, Bubble Rush], $200,000 GTD’
– Karan Radia won $1,210.49 for 21st place in the PokerStars ‘TCOOP-06: $215 NL Hold’em [Turbo, Progressive KO (33%)], $250,000 GTD’
– Sriharsha ‘indiandurr’ Doddapaneni won $1,078.63 for 2nd place in the PokerStars ‘Big $33, $6K GTD’
Deltin Royale Poker Room iss Now Adda52 LIVE
News that Adda52.com, India`s largest online poker site was going to be acquired by Delta Corp was made public in August 2016 and further consolidating this collaboration, the online site rebranded the Deltin Royale poker room as Adda52 LIVE last week.

Goa Casinos Troubles Continue
Casinos in the state continued to face issues, first due to the demonetization which saw patrons staying away from these. Simultaneously, the Election Commission has asked the Income Tax department to keep an eye on casinos for malpractices during the elections.

APT Kickoff 2017
The APT Kickoff 2017 concluded with both; pros and newcomers claiming titles. Youngster Takumi Samejima won the Main Event for $38,020 and his first title, while regular Lester Edoc won two more titles.

Edoc took down the WeLoveSport Deep Stack Turbo for $2,550 and the Deep Stack Hyper Turbo for $1,470.
Other significant winners were Iori Yogo, who won the High Rollers for $18,350, and Ranmi Chung who shipped the Monster Stack for $9,270.

2017 Aussie Millions
Down under, the 2017 Aussie Millions continued and crowned a number of winners. Serge Osalan won the PLO event for AUD$58,315, while the NLH Mix Max was claimed by Niall Murray for AUD$61,300.
One of the big winners was Thomas Boivin at the Six Max event for AUD$117,950, but the real cream was taken by James Chen who shipped the AUD$25,000 Challenge for AUD$861,840 and his second title this series.

Bridges Roe took down the NLH Accumulator for AUD$160,725 and Rodrigo Meneses won the Bounty event for AUD$119,500.

November Niner Jerry Wong Wins LHPO Opening Event For $250K
The LHPO opening $365 Unlimited Re-entry drew a huge 4,756 crowd of entries and the ultimate winner was November Niner Jerry Wong who took home $250,000 after a four-way deal.
