The India Poker Legend April Edition, held during the Good Friday weekend, saw great support from the players with 56 players entering the 5k Double Re-buy & Add-on event, 51 in the 15k Freeze-out event and 31 runners in the ₹100,000 Main Event. The fact that the Guarantees were crushed on all 3 days is testament enough for the success of the series. The only hiccup: not enough contestants in the Heads-up event, which had to be canceled due to this reason.

The highlight of the series was the ₹100k buy-in Freeze-out Main Event, which was expected to attract some of the best Poker Talent of the country and many did make their way to Goa for a piece of the ₹30 Lakhs Guaranteed Prizepool. Abhishek Goindi (cover image) riding high on his success abroad (runner-up finish at MPC Red Dragon) continued his formidable tournament form by besting the 31 player field to win the Main Event and pocket ₹12.5 Lakhs. The field was tough, but Abhishek has faced tougher fields before and come out better, so when he made it to the final table there certainly was a lot of support and side wagers counting on him to deliver….. and he didn’t disappoint!

Team PokerGuru Mentor Ramandeep Singh Gujral was looking at getting the Tournament elephant off his back but despite yet another deep run, Raman went out on the money bubble in 5th place. Team Pro Aditya ‘Mastermind’ Agarwal too made it to the final table but got all his chips in with only to be called by Fredrik Hallanss . Mastermind failed to catch up on the board with the King high kicker for Fredrik coming into play and busted in 7th place. Tournament Organizer Pranav Bagai, who started off with the chip lead on the final table, was the next casualty, losing a flip with his against Fredrick Hallen’s .

The 3-way match begins with the following chip-counts

1st – Abhishek Goindi – 255,000 chips
2nd – Fredrick Hallan – 250,000 chips
3rd – Jasven Saigal – 110,000 chips

The shortest stacked Jasven Saigal was the next to go in a preflop all-in. He gets his money in with and is up against Fredrick Hallen’s . The board opens , Fredrick wins the pot with a pair of nines eliminating yet another player to get heads-up for the title with Abhishek Goindi!

The hour-long heads-up battle was a swingy duel, which begun with Fredrick having the lead, after eliminating 4 players on the final table, but Abhishek Goindi staged a valiant comeback to win the event. In back to back hands we saw Hallen losing his entire chip stack. In the first hand Abhishek Goindi raised 25k from the Big Blind, Fredrick moved all-in and Goindi called. Abhishek shows and has Fredrick’s dominated. The cards went and Goindi gets in the chip lead.

In the very next hand, the flop opens , Fredrick bets 25k, Abhishek moves all-in, Fredrick called.
