It was a historic Sunday for online poker in the country with India`s biggest-ever online poker tournament PokerBaazi’s “The MoneyMaker” making a grand debut. It would be an understatement to say that the event was a grand success as the registration cap of 800 entries was locked in less than an hour into play. So fast were the registrations that several players were unable to join the extravaganza! All-in-all, the guaranteed prize pool of ₹1 crore was easily crushed with the total prize pool amounting to a whopping ₹1,21,90,000!

Outlasting this massive field was Bengaluru-based Anujkumar ‘aatmaan’ Kodam (cover image), a name that has consistently featured in the winners list both in live and online events. Kodam pocketed the top prize of ₹30,47,500.

Meanwhile PokerStars Sunday Million attracted 5,980 hopefuls (4,864 unique entries + 1,116 re-entries) to take the prize pool to a cool $1,196,000. Besting the field was UK based ‘ad144’ who pocketed $148,801.43 after a heads-up deal with ‘CrownUpGay’. India`s Samay ‘omgsammjesus’ Parikh made the deepest run pocketing $1,616.87 for his 55th place finish.

The MoneyMaker – PokerBaazi

It was time for new benchmarks to be set with PokerBaazi’s much awaited “The MoneyMaker” event guaranteeing a massive ₹1 crore in prizes. With 800 unique entries and 413 re-entries, the entry cap of 800 players was reached in no time leaving quite a few players venting on missing out on the action.

PokerBaazi re-scheduled the event (originally scheduled at 9 p.m.) to 9:30 p.m. to handle some last-minute technical difficulties but nonetheless, the event went on to live up to all the hype.

The field was full of top pros and the one who outshone everyone else was Anujkumar ‘aatmaan’ Kodam. Kodam had recently won the Adda52 High Roller event (final 9 handed table played live in Deltin Royale, Goa during DPT September) and continued his exploits by pocketing the whopping ₹30,47,500 first place prize money.
