Jaswinder Singh “Bobbe” Suri (cover image) is a high stakes cash game player from Mumbai. Though primarily a cash game player, Bobbe already has 3 impressive title wins under his belt with his biggest win coming at the recently concluded World Gaming Festival (WGF) – 1 crore guaranteed Poker Tournament. We caught up with Bobbe after his win at the WGF to answer some questions!

Here is the exclusive interview

Congratulation Bobbe on winning the WGF – the biggest Indian Tournament! How does it feel after winning the biggest Poker Tournament in Indian History?

Thank You. It’s an amazing feeling, especially when your confidence level is down and you come back and win an event of this magnitude. I always believed that I was a good live tournament player and my past results showed that, however, being a high stakes cash game player, I did not really participate in most of the events because the time invested v/s the payback ratio was discouraging.

The big prize-money surely attracted a lot of good talent from all across the country. How was it keeping your own against some of the finest players?

It was indeed a star studded field. I play a confidence game and big names really don’t bother me much since I have played them in the past and have held my own and come out trumps. I managed to spend the maximum time with Intervention and we did not really get into a head to head situation till the heads up on the final table, I wonder if it was a coincidence or whether he respected my game that much so as to not cross my path. I’m gonna ask him someday.

Any players in the circuit who you feel were particularly tough to play against?

Vipul was a tough cookie, Intervention , as usual is fantastic, Kanjani played a solid game, Goyal showed signs of returning to old tourney form. It took a couple of monster folds by me against Kanjani and Vipul or else somebody else would be answering questions instead of me.

What are your poker plans with the boost your bankroll got due to this win? Any plans to play some international tournament like the forthcoming MPCC in Macau or even the APT here in India?

I never really had any bankroll constraints for tourneys since I’m a high stakes cash game player, I’m planning to turn professional for tourneys and am working on a calendar that constitutes MPCC October, APT November, Doyle Brunson”s 5 Diamond in December, Aussie Millions in Jan, WSOP and some EPT events in 2012. I am still not 100% confirmed for it but the intent is surely there.

You are primarily a cash game player. Did you get any interesting cash game action during the WGF?

Yes I did, in fact 24 hour after winning the WGF; I had my worst ever cash game session in my life. I was in Goa 4 days before the event and did very well in the cash games.

Any interesting hands or incidents at the WGF you would like to share with us?

There were a lot of interesting incidents and events, I have put it up on my blog already, I’m sure it’s gonna be an interesting read. Cheers!
