[FLOAT-LEFT][/FLOAT-LEFT] The October edition of the PokerGuru Tour kicked off with a massive attendance, smashing the turnout record at Casino Royale, Goa. The 5K Re-Entry event garnered a pool of 164 buy-ins on Wednesday, with at least 110 individual entries. The earlier record for a single tournament registration stood at 158 registrations for the 50K event during the Asian Poker Tour in December 2011 in Goa. The total tournament prizepool stood at a whopping INR 8,20,000.
PokerGuru pro Sangeeth ‘Samoh’ Mohan took up the role of the emcee for a change and announced the numbers. “This is the biggest tournament ever in India, in terms of entries,” he said.
The tournament started at 9 pm and went on till early in the morning. After 6 hours of play, the final table of 10 was decided with Ishan Panjwani in the chip lead.
Pune`s Ishan Panjwani won the tournament cashing in a record INR 2,71,000 for the first prize for a 5K event in India. He beat the massive field to come heads up with Dubai`s Rishad Badami, in the first tournament of this edition. Badami bagged the INR 1,40,000 second prize.
