Team PokerGuru got off to a flying start in the APT Asian Series Goa securing the top 2 spots in the 1st event itself. The ₹10K Freezeout Event saw 58 runners making for a prizepool of ₹5,22,000. Team Pros Aditya ‘Intervention’ Agarwal (cover image) and defending APT Asian Series Goa Champion – Sangeeth ‘Samoh’ Mohan were the final 2 players on the final table. The final hand came with Mohan’s stack crippled and his losing to Agarwal’s .The board of gave Agarwal trips on the river to take down the title.

Early eliminations saw the Young Guns – Nitish Gupta and Prabhat Mukherjea joining Team Mentor Raman Gujral on the rails. Team Pros Samoh and Intervention then went on an elimination spree and we witnessed total carnage all the way till the heads-up duel. Intervention who took a major hit to his stack when his failed to catch up against of Kevin Neves in a 3 way allin pot, bounced back soon afterwards by eliminating Phani Raminemi on the money bubble. He followed this up by eliminating Liam Anderson, Michael D’Souza, and Kevin Neves. Samoh too was busy at the other end knocking out fellow Team Pros – Aditya ‘Mastermind’ Agarwal and Pulkit Kalia, Praz Correa, Vineet Bailur, MPC Red Dragon runners-up – Abhishek Goindi and Amit Shetty among others on his way to get heads-up for the title.

Heads-Up

It was an interesting heads-up battle with both Team Pros almost immediately agreeing to a prize-money chop but play continued for the title. Eager to celebrate the Team’s 1-2 finish, we had both Sangeeth and Aditya blindly shoving all-in each hand. To the utter amazement of the rail and the tournament officials (not to forget the 2 players), the first 3 hands resulted in chopped pots and the ordeal continued. The 4th hand saw Intervention table against Samohss . The board blanked out and the very next hand in an anti-climax, Samoh woke up with Queens against Intervention’s pocket eights. The sweats continued as the flop gave Intervention a straight flush draw but it was the on the river which secured Intervention’s title!
