Aussie Millions 2016 Schedule Released, Large Indian Team Led By Aditya Agarwal Expected to Join

The 2015 WSOP has concluded, but the show goes on, and now, comes the announcement of the complete schedule of the 2016 Aussie Millions.

To be held at the same venue as last time, the Crown Poker at the Crown Melbourne, the series will roll out in Jan 2016, with a total of 24 events.

Famed as the most prestigious event in this half of the world, the series draws the best of the international pro crowd and once again, we can expect a sizeable Indian contingent to be present.

At the last Aussie Millions in Jan 2015, we had India’s finest Aditya Agarwal, make his first live appearance as a Team PokerStars pro. Aditya has recently broken his own record with a 71st place finish in the WSOP Main event for $96,445 and clearly the pro will now be actively seeking to enhance his poker resume with even greater scores. Aditya will certainly be jetting to down under looking to make a mark at this celebrated series.

Apoorva Goel, Akash Malik, Shashank Jain and Rahul Byrraju were some of the others in the Indian contingent to join Aditya at 2015 Aussie Millions.

With eastern destinations fast becoming a natural progression of a poker journey for several Indian players, we can certainly expect many more to join Aditya at the 2016 Aussie Millions.

 

2016 Aussie Millions

The upcoming 2016 Aussie Millions is now in its 18th year and will be held from from Wednesday, Jan 13 to Monday Feb 1, 2016.

Joel Williams Crown Melbourne’s Tournament Director told the press, “Crown Melbourne’s Aussie Millions Poker Championship continues to be seen as a ‘must-attend’ on the global poker tour among both recreational players and seasoned pros alike. With a schedule featuring 24 official Championship events, 2016 looms as one of the biggest events yet.”

The 24 rich events will have a range of buy-ins from as low as AU$1,150 to as high as AU$250,000.

The starting event on Wed, Jan 13 will be the AU$1,150 No-Limit Hold’em, with a smashing AU$1 million guaranteed and four starting flights.Some of the richer buy-in events will be the AU$25,000 Challenge, the AU$100,000 Challenge, and the wallet-defying AU$250,000 Challenge.

In the $250K Challenge event at the Jan 2015 edition, Phil Ivey had made history by winning it for a third consecutive time, beating the 25 entries to take the title and the top prize of $2,205,000.

As was last time, the AU$10,600 Main Event will once again be part of the PokerStars.net Asia-Pacific Poker Tour. This event had drawn a large field of 648 runners in Jan and it was Manny Stavropoulos who had won it for AU$1,385,500.

Like the Jan edition, this time too, the final table will be held at the Crown Exhibition Hall and will be telecast live to a global audience.

Besides the amazing array of cash prizes, winners of each event will also get the illustrious Aussie Millions “Championship Ring” to commemorate their victory.
