APT Philippines 2015: The Indian Charge in Manila Continues; Sahil Agarwal and Apoorva Goel Storm into Day 3 of Main Event, Amit Jain and Haresh Kukreja Make Final Eight in Event 11

The Indian siege at the APT Philippines has now caught full momentum, as Sahil Agarwal and Apoorva Goel storm into Day 3 of the Main Event and Amit Jain and Haresh Kukreja make final eight in Event 11.

In Event 10, the $165 WeLoveSport Deep Stack Turbo, Singapore player Cai Xiujuan claimed victory for $13,980.

Sahil Agarwal 6th in Chips Going Into Day 3, Apoorva Goel Starts as Short Stack with 33,000 Chips

Day 2 started with 123 survivors and only 27 remained for Day 3. Aggressive play and intense action marked the day and it was Vietnamese, Ha Duong, who collected 755,000 in chips to take the lead.

The ultimate champion in this event stands to collect $102,600, from the whopping prize pool of $409,300 created by the total 211 entries during the three entry flights.

Nine of our Indian challengers gave it their best shot on Day 2 of the Main Event, however, only two; Sahil Agarwal and Apoorva Goel managed to slip through to Day 3.

Sahil Agarwal is making the most of his recent good form, as he is now 6th in chips, starting Day 3. Sahil already has two ITM finishes in the series so far, a 15th place in Event 8 – $440 NLH Event and a 4th place finish in Event 7 – $275 OFC

Day 2 of the Main Event was a charged one for Sahil, as he kept grinding his way to finally amass 375,000 chips that places him 6th in the counts. He tweeted about the proceedings,

Apoorva Goel, who was 18th in the chip counts on Day 1B of the Main Event is now down to a short stack of 33,000 chips, but will have the chance to amend that in Day 3 today.

Among our Indian players, who were eliminated on Day 2, Kunal Patni posted his bust out hand, “I just busted out 38th. Damn. Two hands in early succession 2 pairs < 2 pairs.

Danish Shaikh went out at 36th place and Shravan Chhabria followed a little later. Akash Malik, Aditya Sushant, Haresh Kukreja and Jasven Saigal all were unable to make it to the money.

All the 27 players taking their seats today for Day 3 at 2pm local time are assured of making the money.

 

Event 11 – $550 NLH

Amit Jain and Haresh Kukreja Both Eye Second Title, Dhaval Mudgal Busts Short of the Money

Day 1 of Event 11 was once again another great one for our Indian players. Both Amit Jain and Haresh Kukreja have made it to the eight handed final table.

Amit accumulated a stack of around 91,000 chips and Haresh had about 83,000 in chips at the end of play yesterday.. Earlier Amit took down Event 8, while Haresh had won the Opening event. Both players will be actively seeking to make a double-score for India.

Dhaval Mudgal seemed to have been hit by a bad patch and after bubbling the Opening event, he busted this event at 11th place, barely missing the money, with the top nine places being paid.

 

Event 10 – $165 WeLoveSport.com Deep Stack Turbo

Cai Xiujuan Wins Event 10 for $4,690

Side Event 10 also played out yesterday. Singapore player Cai Xiujuan claimed the title for $4,690.

Today will mark Day 3 of the Main Event, besides two other side events, the $770 buy-in Monster Stack NLHE and the $165 buy-in Deep Stack Turboat 3 pm and 7 pm, respectively.
