The 2018 Macau Millions Main Event, Macau`s largest field tournament, is down to it`s last eight players and India`s Aditya Sushant (cover image) is in the firing line to bring home the title.

Macau has been a fertile ground for Team India and is one venue that has seen our challengers winning numerous six figure and the odd seven figure payout as well, however there is still one thing missing in an otherwise excellent score sheet – a Main Event title!

We have come close to correcting this aberration on several occasions – Abhishek Goindi at the MPC Red Dragon in 2012, to the more recent 2018 APPT Macau Main Event where Team PokerStars pro Aditya Agarwal missed out on the title by a whisker. But we are here again, with one of the most accomplished Indian poker pros on the final table of a record-breaking Main Event!

A total of 173 players from a starting field of 2,499-entries came back for Day 2 action yesterday at the PokerStars LIVE Macau poker room. There was a sizeable Indian contingent in the running with seven Indian challengers eyeing a seat on the final table. Leading the Indian campaign was Young Gun Sahil Chuttani with the second largest stack in the field, but barring Sushant, all others exited during the course of the day.

Topping the eight-handed final table will be China`s Xujun Huang, who won a massive pot on the last hand of the day yesterday to bag a comfortable chip lead and is the only player above 6-million in chips. Close behind Huang is Taiwan`s Chen Al Lin with Sushant not far behind in third place.

Running alongside Day 2 of the Main Event was the opening flight of the HK$30,000 High Roller, where Gokul Krishna (356,000), Young Gun Abhinav Iyer (66,000) & Sumit Sapra (58,000), all bagged for Day 2.

Macau Millions Main Event – Day 2

The day began with 173 players, all guaranteed a min-cash of HK$9,000.

A total of seven Indian`s were seen in action including Day 1A qualifier Gokul Krisha (322,000), Day 1B qualifiers – Aditya Sushant (248,000), Sumit Sapra (225,000), Zarvan Tumboli (60,500) & Day 1C survivors – Sahil Chutani (514,000), Abhinav Iyer (214,500) & Deepak Raina (26,500).

With all remaining players guaranteed a payday of at least HK$9,000 for making Day 2, the action was fast and frantic, with over 30% of the field falling in the first two levels.

The short-stacked Deepak Raina was the first one from the team to fall at 162nd place for HK$9,000 (~₹76,000) followed by Young Gun Abhinav Iyer at 135th place for HK$10,500 (~₹89,000).

With Gokul Krishna (71st for ~₹1,43,600) and Sahil Chuttani`s (51st for ~₹1,72,000) exit, Sushant was the only Indian left in the fray.

Sushant started the day with a stack of 248,000 and enjoyed a late surge that put him at the top of the chip counts by the time the play was down to two tables. He eventually bagged 5,050,000 and is placed third on the eight-handed final table.

Notables who enjoyed deep runs but came up short of the final table included Malaysia’s Victor Chong (18th for HK$45,000), former Asia Player of the Year Hung Sheng Lin (30th for HK$27,500) and 2013 APPT Macau Champion Alexandre Chieng (32nd for HK$23,800).

Other notable big stacks to make the final cut include China’s Zhouchang Xu (4,345,000) and Day 1C standard flight chip leader Max Menzel (2,720,000).
